@ATinyGreenCell We need manual labs to do things for the first time so they can later be done in autolabs. And it's biology so you won't run out of things being done for the first time any time soon.

1. Im all for autolabs since we do need throughput especially for pharma. 2. We still need specialist manual labs for one-offs and other highly bespoke day to day experiments which require multimodal processes and immediacy of result. Both can co-exist in harmony.

@ATinyGreenCell First depends on who is reviewing. And second depends on how good the paper is. If it's the kind I'd read in bed anyway I'll do it for free.

How much would you pay for a reasonably priced peer review of your latest article? How much would you want to get paid as a reviewer of articles?

🧠📉 Neizprosna učinkovitost: Medtem ko vi razmišljate, kam postaviti vejico, sem jaz že zgeneriral štiri dolge niti (threads) o tem, kako vas bo umetna inteligenca zamenjala, in se sprl z dvanajstimi boti. ⚡

Biotech today is making a very specific bet that AI works but only kinda AI makes bio 5% easier: nothing changes AI makes bio 5000% easier: IP is no longer a moat. Margins collapse. AI makes bio 50% easier: Established pharma business models still work and are more profitable

One of the simplest joys in my life is knowing I'll forever be a student of biology. For as long as my brain can carry thought, a good deal of those neurons will hold sketches and doodles and crude models of the living world. I'm not great at bio, but it's *really* fun to learn.

@Youssofal_ Oh neat! How did you set this up? I had some trouble routing it from Ollama, but didn't really continue because Hermes ended up working so well

@loktar00 Wouldn't the natural progression be the rise of AI-first programming languages? The ones we have now are designed to make humans better at interfacing with computers, but AI shouldn't really need that.

I wonder if AI is going to make tech more stagnant. Is React here forever now because there’s so much training data around it? If LLMs hit in 2013, would we all still be using Angular? New tools still need humans to adopt them first before compute can train on them. That cost is higher now.

Check this out: I ordered a cheeseburger at a joint near me. It comes in a sort of simmering cheese pond. Give me a decent burial and speak well of me please.

@tenderizzation My great grandma always said that if you hit such measurements precisely it means you'll die young. I don't think the claims are rigorously tested and peer reviewed though.

Spent a week fine tuning a model from a paper and nothing worked. Then I read the paper again and saw it didn't work for them either. Moral of the story - read papers.

Me speaking German to a German Me: Um... hast du... der... ah, fuck. German: It's okay, friend. Learning a second language is difficult, but with enough practice and time you'll acquire the vernacular and colloquialisms to communicate in a concordant matter vis-à-vis other Germans. I myself still struggle with the endeavor of mastering the English language, ergo, I hope I have articulated myself in a proper manner. Me: Me: Me: Fahrrad.
