The absolute lack of empathy and compassion by @CBULancers is stunning. I wonder if @calbaptist administration feels this sort of treatment is reflective of their Baptist mission

Cal Baptist couldn’t even wait for the NCAA Championships to end. An email sent to wrestlers confirms the CBU wrestling facility is now closed, with athletes given just one hour today (4–5 PM) to retrieve their belongings. The season isn’t even over. Another embarrassing example of leadership from @DrMicahParker and @HorrocksSID.

@WrestlingSNL @MrPatMineo They really don’t seem to care about the athletes or how badly it reflects on the university. They just figure it will blow over at some point and they will move on building a golden calf.

I don’t know how those admins can go to the Big 12 and not want to be part of it going forward. It is probably the first tournament they have ever been to. CBU is fortunate to be a part of it and they are walking away so they can buy a starting 5 for a mediocre basketball program.

@LWOSVanHouten @jasonmbryant @calbaptist Shane Griffith already did it and it helped save Stanford wrestling, so better schools and programs have already tread these waters and come out better for it. CBU leaderships handling of this whole situation has been authoritarian. Not a good look.

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them" This sends a message to all @calbaptist students and alumni. THIS is how your leadership talks down to its students? If I'm considering it as a school, I'd look at this and re-evaluate the value they put into actual people.

There are a lot of Tim Cowens on that squad. Coach Moore has created a culture that values and builds Godly young men. It’s an uncommon achievement in this era where NIl and conference alignments are more important than integrity and character. Where your treasure is, your heart will be also. It remains to be seen where @DrMicahParker heart is.

What’s crazy to me is that CBU is a Baptist university. We don’t make any big decisions without meetings, corporate prayer, more meetings, and a vote. I wonder if @DrMicahParker prayerfully considered this or it was just a God-less business decision. Nothing in the way they have handled this is Christ like.

It's a small school/athletic department. The guys in the video may have been carrying out orders, but they knew the kids/coaches. They didn't have to treat them like that. That's the issue. CBU wrestling is done. Most know that.

Pyles' take on the CBU video is emblematic of why so many people took Willie's side in the split with Flo IMO. Instead of going to bat for his "mainest man", he participated in a lawsuit against him. Most wrestling people aren't like that. At times, even to their own peril, they'll go against decisions they disagree with. More related to Willie and empathize with the athletes than they did/do, a large organization and corporate middlemen.

When you eliminate programs and keep coaches/athletes/donors in the dark, a few things become clear: 1). You didn’t explore all options 2). You’re not suited to be a director of athletics Cutting sports is NEVER the answer. There’s ALWAYS a better way. Do better @CBULancers

Oh but water polo and volleyball and basketball all get this mans attention. He will tweet and retweet those sports information..never wrestling.

Well said. The question should be “how can we” and it should involve donors, staff, parents, athletes. CBU is a Christian college. This should have been given prayerful consideration and the athletes should have been treated as brothers in Christ. They had the press release ready before they even spoke to the team.

Watching the video of the horrendous and inept leadership displayed by @CBULancers toward their student-athletes, reminds me of point #2 of the post below. Things were painfully obvious from the start. Make no mistake, the message was coming from the top. #KeepCBUWrestling

Dear @CBULancers , your treatment of the wrestling team will destroy enrollment for years to come. Soon, when a parent Googles you, they will find leaked videos, text exchanges and the vile, disgusting way you have threatened your athletes. You once had the @Big12Conference logo in your rights to use; now, you will feel the slow decline of tuition fees. And you'll blame the government, trends or whatever. But no Christian family wants to trust their child in a "Baptist" institution that treats students this way. @DrMicahParker, @CBUProvost: Gentlemen, You can prevent this from getting worse.

Let them NOT wear them. Let them mourn and protest and not go softly. They are good kids they are not burning down cities or turning over cars. They just want to quietly protest this decision. Let them. It would not have diminished CBU in any way, but this administration’s Behavior absolutely has.

@nimblephatty @dsonoiki you actually have to hurt them before it's attempted murder. Ross didn't get hurt. there's no such thing as almost but not quite attempted murder. just like there's no such thing as almost but not quite vehicular assault, and even than it's a misdemeanor in most states.

lawyer here if you try to run someone over with your car and they do not die, it is not a crime that’s like if you try to murder someone and fail. there isn’t a crime called “try-to murder” this ICE agent deserves prison

Well, Fam, just found out our health insurance is jumping from $1700 to over $3000 a month. And we still have to wait till Nov 1 to see more options—when the site will probably crash because everyone will be freaking out at the same time. People are about to get priced out of healthcare in the richest country on Earth. And yes, I blame Republicans 100% for this mess. Democrats, stand strong. @cwebbonline We went through something similar when Obamacare was first passed. The insurance and Doctor that Obama promised we could keep if we wanted to went from $475/mo to $1,475 with a much higher deductible. We switched to a healthcare sharing ministry and have never looked back.
