If you want more doctors doing house calls, not selling their practices and going to work for the big HC conglomerates, make public med school free. A little gov intervention, so that rather than having 100s of thousands in debt guiding their decisions , they can do primary care or be a family physician and spend as much time with patients as they want. They can take cash. They can take chickens. If you had 250k after almost a decade of school, do you think that would impact your decisions ? And if you own a big HC conglomerate, does knowing they are drowning in debt impact your decision and how you compete and contract with them ? Fuck yeah it does. You pressure them till they have to sell out to you in an acquihire. They can’t afford to survive on their own and every huge HC company takes advantage of them About 32k students enter med school and DO school a year. 75k for a grant each. Thats 2.4b annually for each class. That’s it. You want better healthcare for everyone. That’s the place to start.

For over 70 years, adjusting your status to a Green Card from within the US has been the standard pathway to achieve permanent legal status.  Now Trump wants to change that solely to inflict damage on our immigrants and mixed families by forcing people to wait often years in their home country. @GeauxGabrielle Algorithms are only as good as the programming and training data. Human beings have more understanding of circumstances to make these life-altering decisions. Does the algorithm take into account the age, the blindness, their behavior in prison. is that person really a risk?

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the DHS Inspector General just opened an audit into a $38 billion warehouse-to-detention scheme that Kristi Noem and her top adviser Corey Lewandowski rammed through. ICE bought 11 vacant warehouses in a matter of months, paying 11 to 13 percent above market value. The properties weren’t even zoned for detention. No working plumbing for thousands of detainees. But Noem and Lewandowski pressured ICE to open them by year’s end anyway. The result? At least $1 billion already spent on nine facilities. Nearly 50 contractors paid $1.7 billion since Trump took office. Companies with zero immigration detention experience suddenly winning massive federal contracts. One firm that didn’t even exist until June 2024 got a $6 million DHS contract this January. Noem is gone. Lewandowski is gone. But the bill is still landing on the taxpayer, and the IG investigation is just getting started. Accountability cannot end when the perpetrators walk out the door. Every contract needs scrutiny. @emmanuelfelton It's not discrimination to go to a doctor that you feel comfortable with. One that has a similar background, is more caring, will listen to you. Discrimination would be preventing qualified people from going to medical school or working as a doctor because of their demographic.
