@stevejamesLFC@Kristian_Walsh Yes, maybe harsh but he shouldn't be playing every game at his age. They've been slow to plan for the future there. His decline (relative to his own standards) has shown how reliant his partners have been on him.
@DeclanCrosby@Kristian_Walsh Agree with most of that but not sure Virgil is finished. Playing alongside duds like Kerkez & Konate would make anyone look bad.
Tonight summed up why so few Liverpool fans believe Arne Slot can fix this. Yes, this side is short in attack and signings will help, but they won't sort a midfield and defence that have been shambolic all season. So, without a change of head coach, how does it get better?
A six-minute VAR delay with 25 replays to decide which of the multiple set-piece wrestling manoeuvres was clearly and obviously worthy of punishment. A fittingly decisive moment for the 2025-26 Premier League season.
@HendrickD82@GrizzKhan None of the midfield really have any aggression. Gravenberch hasn't been brilliant either. I think they need two new midfielders. They definitely need legs and aggression. They also need some character and leadership in there.
@DeclanCrosby@GrizzKhan Can't run but covers more ground than Gravenberch.
No athleticism but doesn't shit himself in tackles the way Gravenberch does.
The fall out with Jones , the constant shifting of Dom,the trust in a washed Macca and the confusion of roles for Grav have totally ruined the balance of our midfield this season. We have one of the softest underbellys in the premier league. A not very good Utd team were licking their lips to play us today. Mad

@HendrickD82@GrizzKhan If he doesn't turn his back, he blocks it. He was brilliant last season but he's always been brutally slow. I think he had an operation too..played too much football..international travel over and back hasn't helped. If he was in another profession, I'd say he needs a year off.
@DeclanCrosby@GrizzKhan Nonsense about the first. Tried to block it. Couldn't do anything about it.
He lost the ball in their half. That goal is on Robertson and Virgil who defended it pathetically. And Woodman for punching it on to Sesko.
Third, fair enough. He also made our second.
@HendrickD82@GrizzKhan He turned his back on the first one and it goes in off him. He lost the ball in the build up for their second and his 'touch' that gave away the third was absolutely awful. That third goal is appalling. He can't run and has no athleticism.
@DeclanCrosby@GrizzKhan He wasn't at fault for every goal. That's utter nonsense.
He was also responsible for our second goal.
How was he unprofessional when the other lad was just as bad as was bullied by Kobbie Mainoo??
🔴 Liverpool Beaten, Bullied and Left Clinging to Context
#MUFC 3-2 #LFC | #PremierLeague
I predicted a Liverpool defeat in my my preview this morning, which is not something I do lightly, even in a season as miserable as this one. The injury list finally felt too heavy to ignore. For once, it was valid context rather than the tired shield it has too often become.
But context is not absolution.
Liverpool lost 3-2 to a poor Manchester United side and, in truth, the score flattered them. United were better, sharper, stronger, and should have won by more. Liverpool’s two goals came from gifts. United created the better chances, won the physical argument, and exposed yet again a side that cannot defend properly, cannot control key areas, and cannot be trusted when the game demands nerve.
Yes, there was a third-choice goalkeeper. Yes, Curtis Jones was filling in at right-back. But how did Liverpool get here? Poor planning. A January window ignored. A squad stretched to breaking point while the manager keeps talking as though this chaos happened to him, not under him.
Arne Slot may believe he can fix it. I see no evidence. The man-management has looked poor, the squad has looked underused, and the excuses now sound less like explanations and more like evasion. As soon as the season turned sour, so did the conviction behind the project.
Mac Allister was poor again. Gravenberch still does not look like a natural six when Liverpool are under pressure. The team tried, but trying is not enough at this level.
United have done the double. City have done the double. Liverpool are falling into a Champions League place rather than earning one.
This needs ending. Not dressing up. Not explaining away. Ending.
@henrywinter He can't run. He's slow and has poor athleticism. That's why three managers have not picked him. You need legs all around him in your midfield if you pick him. If he was a different nationality, he wouldn't even be spoken about.
The crazy situation that has put Harvey Elliott’s promising career on hold - stuck at nine games for Aston Villa on loan - is deeply frustrating on a human and professional level. It looks even crazier given the struggles of Villa’s squad players against Spurs. And also Liverpool’s need for some invention and energy, including a stronger option on the right against Manchester United.
What a sad waste of a year for Elliott after a terrific Euro Under-21s where he was Player of the Tournament. He just wants to play. Last summer Elliott was looking forward to the season and hoping to force his way into the England senior squad. This loan with obligation to buy after 10 games has proved a millstone given Unai Emery doesn’t want to buy.
You have to feel for Elliott. Clubs, PL, PFA and FIFA (because of the two-team rule) have to work to ensure a young player’s career isn’t put on hold again. Elliott deserves better.
