A full blown illegal settlement around a MAJOR Mumbai railway station and we’re supposed to believe nobody knew? Police knew. BMC knew. Politicians knew. Railway authorities knew. Courts knew. Everyone fucking knew. You cannot have this level of encroachment in the middle of critical public infrastructure without years of protection, bribery, deliberate inaction and complete collapse of governance. Don’t just demolish the structures. Arrest the officials and politicians who allowed this disaster to grow in broad daylight for years.

Mumbai Metro Red & Yellow lines were a direct route, but now they have been split just to benefit Mira Road commuters, who aren’t even part of Mumbai, while west residents must change at Dahisar East, wasting time. Poor and unfair decision.@MMMOCL_Official @MMRDAOfficial

If you want Mumbai to have plentiful high quality affordable non slum housing for all people who want to live and work in Mumbai, you will have to cut a LOT of trees and build a LOT of roads, rail, infrasructure, and housing in this area.

One story worth reading about Bullet Train project today is this. Read how a gang of 8, land mafias, grabbed land from real land owners, opened bank accounts in their name and took money with them. While the land acquisition officer and collector office are washing their hands off, they are equally responsible for not scrutinising the paperwork correctly. Crores of money belonging to land owners seems to be siphoned off. This requires a SIT. Story in @HT_Mumbai by @memeghasood

@sudhirmehtapune In Mumbai, road widths have remained the same for the last 20–30 years, but new projects have been developed at an exponential rate. Whoever is the approving authority needs to check whether there is adequate space for traffic management or not, before approving any new project.
