As Georgia prepares for another special session on redistricting, let’s set the table with a little recent history. In 2021, the legislature passed new congressional, state House, and state Senate maps that were signed into law by Gov. Brian Kemp. On Oct. 26, 2023, a federal court struck down all three maps for violating the Voting Rights Act. The legislature then returned in special session, passed remedial maps in December 2023, and those maps were later approved by the trial court. Both the liability ruling and the remedial map decisions are still on appeal. Georgia’s redistricting fight has been ongoing, and every Georgian should understand the legal and political history behind what comes next. #gapol

Gov Kemp has called yet another special session to redraw GA’s electoral maps, for the third time since 2021. Most likely this session will be brutally fast, maybe spanning only 1.5 weeks. What this means is: the GOP has the maps already. So why won’t they let voters see them?

Just three weeks before the World Cup matches are due to start, FIFA has gone into a panic as they realise the immigration crackdowns in the USA means they can't fill stadiums, even at drastically reduced prices. I mean, surely they aren't that stupid that they didn't see this coming?

What happened to Georgia is that Atlanta became what they call “little Hollywood”. They started filming a lot there and elsewhere in GA. We got a ton of blue voters who work in that industry in the city. They want to mess GA up like they did to gorgeous California. They underestimate the stubbornness of southerners, though, We see them now. #gapol

What outsiders don’t know is that Abrams was a tour de force in 2018 and both Warnock but especially Ossoff benefited from that. Ossoff squeaked into the run off. Warnock had a better margin. Less team player and more winning strategy, perhaps.

Bridges collapse. Cities rot. Public transit looks post-apocalyptic. Young people can’t afford houses. But thank God the machine can generate 9,000 fake podcast clips per second. Civilizations used to build aqueducts and railways. Now we build data centers.

Black voters have been the firewall in Georgia. The engine. The margin. The rescue squad. But this time, White voters have to bring receipts too. Bottoms needs 30% of them to win the thing. No excuses.
