Gentrification is actually a process spurred by housing shortages, which are typically a result of policies pursued by landlords, homeowners (who may or may not be wealthy), and which result in a *lack* of private investment in housing construction
seosamh 🇵🇸@dayglowj0e

this is what happens when people don’t know what words mean. gentrification is not a synonym for white people. working class white people can be victims of gentrification, which is a process spurred by landlords, the wealthy, and private investment. arooj aftab is a gentrifier.

@reesetheone1 Although I like Pritzker, making the home state of a major contender like him first is just principally unfair. Otherwise, I'm sure it would have been more seriously considered earlier in the process.

Congressman Barney Frank was a true trailblazer, and a pioneer for LGBTQ+ rights and keeping Wall Street in line. He will be deeply missed, though his legacy will live on in all of us fighting for progress. My condolences to his loved ones.

Last night was a HUGE moment for Georgia. ✊🏽🔥 My friend @KeishaBottoms officially became the Democratic nominee for governor, and the energy around her campaign feels undeniable. Black women continue making history and reshaping the future of this country. 🇺🇸

I’m saddened to hear about the passing of former Congressman Barney Frank. As one of the first openly gay members of Congress, he was a trailblazer and a fierce advocate for equality. His fight for representation helped open doors for so many, and his impact will be felt for generations. apnews.com/article/barney…

Russia held an election a few weeks after Lenin seized power in 1917. Lenin's party finished a distant second. Lenin then abolished the other parties and shut down the constituent assembly right after it convened.

We’re in a very toxic dynamic where 1. Lots of Dems are angry at the Democratic Party 2. So they vote for “anti establishment” candidates in primaries 3. Who push the exact policies that got those voters angry at the party Plus the staffer/influencer class is on median DSA

half of the comments and qts on this perfectly reasonable proposal are people going “if they’re cheap people should buy them themselves, why should i care?”, completely missing that they are already paying for the consequences of elderly bathroom falls
Senator Angus King@SenAngusKing

Prevention measures like an $11 bath mat could save Americans tens of thousands of dollars.   If Medicare would send these out to every recipient in America, I’ll bet the investment would pay for itself in under a year.

Non-partisan race + incumbent labels probably screwed Dems out of the Georgia Supreme Court. Remove one of these factors and they probably win.
