No it wasn't. There were plenty of people returning after the end of the war. This is a convenient tale told to us to make us think that 'diversity is a strength' which is the opposite of the truth.

@LeanneSpurs If you truly cared about Africa you’d want negroes to play for their native countries. It would strengthen their national teams and increase their stature. Mixing completely ruins the idea of international football and weakens both sides

To all those bleating, Marc Guehi moved to England when he was 1 year old. Since then he has become a role model citizen, an absolute example of how to integrate yourself into a country as an immigrant. He has earned an English passport, and he has contributed far more to society than you lot could ever dream to do.
