If communism works, then why did the Soviet Union collapse? A regime being good at producing Olympic athletes doesn't prove it's good at producing prosperity, freedom, housing, food, consumer goods, innovation, or human flourishing. By that logic, North Korea's military parades prove central planning works. The Soviet Union could concentrate enormous resources on a handful of politically valuable goals, sports, weapons, space programs. The problem was everything else. Communism's strongest argument is often pointing to the few things it could force people to excel at while ignoring the society it forced them to live in.
