@DepSecDef Since 1778 every generation of my family has served in uniform voluntarily for this country. The credit that these women and men who stand guard over the rest of us deserve is immesurable.

Today we celebrate the 51st anniversary of the All-Volunteer Force. The U.S. military is the greatest fighting force in history, and it consists entirely of volunteers that deliver across the battlespace while also reinforcing American ideals of personal liberty & freedom. We are hopeful for generations of brave Americans to come who voluntarily raise their hands to serve & defend our nation.

248 years ago a bunch of us got spliflicated and decided monarchy was not going to be 'the done thing' anymore. Now we are affirming the path to a populist dictator with legal immunity. Guess that whole Rome analogy isn't so bad after all...
