@ngcproject I agree with Gabriela. Partnerships need to embrace the whole girl and her family, and help them to meet their basic needs while connecting that to STEM, rather than saying, this is what YOU need to learn. How can STEM be a helpful resource in a girl's (& family's) daily life?

Jill is not a MD, but either has a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) or a Doctorate of Education (EdD), thus can be called doctor. I have a PhD, work at an R-1 university; colleagues and students call me Dr. Dierking. It is common.

Many research efforts at the Institute focus on learning ecosystems. As Debbie said we'll be looking in depth at connections between community resources in rural/urban communities from the FAMILY'S own perspective. What STEM/literacy resources do they perceive and use? #LeapWeek

Q2: Children learn through narrative so stories that capture their imagination and tell a story that connects to them are great. I love the Little books/BIG Dreams board books. There is one on Jane Goodall, just called Jane that I love! #LeapWeek

Debbie and I are very interested in what we will find out about rural and urban communities, and differences if any, between museum educators facilitating Leap or librarians. Stay tuned. We begin collecting data next month. #LeapWeek
