@seunosewa Exactly. same training lineage, but different scale and serving stack. Gemini 3.1 Pro gets datacenter TPU clusters and huge inference compute per token. 31b on M4-Max is great for local, but it’s not a fair fight on raw coding output.

@DivineN133 Gemma4:31b is trained for coding by Google, but it can't be compared to Gemini 3.1 Pro.

I have a M4-Max GPU with 48GB shared RAM. I've tried local models like Gemma4:27b, qwen3.6:35b, and Gemma4:31b (best) with Ollama. The models are coherent and quite good at reasoning, but they cannot compete with Claude/Codex for coding due to limited parameters and GPU power.

@bolaabanjo “Better” depends on the use case. They’re strong for efficiency and local deployment, but frontier models still lead in coding because of deeper training and scale.

Exactly why I'm still curious as to why I was told CCP models are better.
