98% of parents would be better putting their kids in school sports & YMCA Rec leagues instead of wasting $10,000 a year on traveling sports teams from age 8-18. Invest that $100,000 for your kid instead & gift them a big down payment on their first home. Let them play multiple sports & don't specialize. Let them be a kid & enjoy life instead of everything being CAN WE SECURE A SCHOLARSHIP. A dad told me he spent around $160k in traveling baseball, coaches, equipment, etc. & his kid got a D2 scholarship worth around 5k a year....... A lot of youth sports is a scam & money grab. *If your kid is super gifted & super INTERNALLY MOTIVATED & loves it, this isn't for you...... but that's 2%.

Sandlot it ain't. Youth sports now $40 B industry: "Teenagers on travel teams are rolling into weekend tournaments wearing a few thousand dollars of apparel, equipment & swag. Avg family spending on baseball increased nearly 70% between 2019 and 2024." wsj.com/business/retai…

Budgeting update for boat life come August: Just did some random budgeting with the wife earlier. Catamaran purchase: $1.25 million cash Annual boat expenses: • Boat insurance: $15k • Running costs, maintenance & upgrades: $50k • Marina fees: $6k • Subscriptions: $2k
Total boat: $73,000 Personal expenses: • Health insurance: $3k • Food: $30k • Phone: $3k • Cybertruck insurance: $2k • Starlink: $2k • Other subscriptions: $2k
Total personal: $42,000 Grand total annual expenses: $115,000 Not bad for full-time travel and living on a catamaran. This is the life we’ve been working toward. Compare this also to our current living expenses and it’s 40% cheaper annually. Fix costs are higher but overall this will be cheaper than the current annual spend we’ve had the prior 4 years since I retired. I’ll see how this actually works out as all this is random budgeting based on educated guesses.

My wife of 48 years died this morning. I'm on my way to being drunk. Not a permanent condition. I'm 78 my wife 76. It is always the shoulda, coulda, wouldas. Nevermore so than with the loss of a cherished companion. Do it now. don't think there is some sort of waiting period, where you get to collect your thoughts, express them well... and be understood. It doesn't work that way. I am now drunk. I just wrote a lot of bullshit and deleted. My wife was so fucking real. An RN of forty years, attuned to all but herself, ironically, or not. I don't wish to disparage her memory, so will stop now. I will love her forever. She was a gifted soul.

Why is FSD so anxious around pedestrians? What rules or inputs did RDW exactly give in order to get FSD to behave like this? Clearly you see a dude walking on the sidewalk, separated by bollards and a couple feet away from the car It seems as though VRUs coming from the side are seen as projectiles jolting towards the car to come F shit up When they clearly don’t

I’ve always opposed EV mandates, rejected the idea that EVs will save the world, and preferred traditional engines for vehicles like the F-150 I used to drive. That said, it’s clear that Teslas are absolutely top-notch products. It’s not hard to see how they’ve developed a dedicated following.
Eduard Richter@erichter66

@RonDeSantis @elonmusk @iliketeslas 5 people in our family bought Model Y. We don’t care about electric cars, we wanted the FSD and we love it. I am spreading the gospel everywhere I can, but people still don’t believe it exists.

All of the my 2800 $TSLA shares are covered with covered calls and because of the Wednesday-Friday 7% run up in share price, they are down about 100%. I'm not concerned and here's why. Wednesday Morning $TSLA opened at $386. I decided to get cute and sell 28 CCs expiring that day at $407.5. I've been experimenting with the new intra-week expiration dates that the CBOE put into affect a few months back. By mid-afternoon I was in the money. What I've learned over time, particularly with $TSLA, is that you can almost always roll out of covered call losses. So instead of letting my shares get taken away, I rolled my covered calls to June 18 (45ish DTE) at $450 strikes. Thankfully I did because $TSLA continued to run and by Friday we were sitting at $428 a share. Now, what do I do from here? Well if we continue to run, I'll roll out again before I get ITM. Eventually $TSLA will stop running, my CCs will decay away and I'll profit. If $TSLA does not stop running, someone is going to take assignment of my shares in the $500s or $600s and I'll keep the premium and share appreciation up to the top. I hope to market forces me to continue rolling up and out.🤞 If you can't tell, I LOVE options.

Almost bought a used 100K mile Honda Civic for my 16 year-old. Instead, I opted for a preowned lease on a Tesla Model 3 with 45K miles. After taxes, the monthly payment is $200. That’s less than we’d be spending on GAS for the Civic every month. And it’s still under warranty! Maybe we’ll buy it out in a few years, maybe we’ll turn it in and lease a brand new one. Either way, the cost savings of leasing (or owning) a Tesla can’t be ignored.

Can somebody explain to me why Tesla is going in full production of Cybercab ? Unsupervised FSD is , obviously, and sadly (at least) one more year away (Musk explained that he is waiting for it to be PERFECT , which will NEVER happen). So what is he going to do with all these "Cybercabs" ? Park them around Giga Austin ? Meanwhile the stock is lower , again, and will (sadly too) finish lower today !

I'm excited to help my dad sell his car and buy a new Tesla Y today. Most of you know by now he's 94 (will be 95 in August). Dad and I haven't always gotten along. We're very similar in many ways which adds to the mix. He is a mirror of my flaws which I can finally acknowledge. He's also the mirror of my greatest competency which is to stay curious about life. This is the secret of my success. At 94, he's still curious and willing to learn new things and I'm proud to be by his side. He's definitely scared about this new technology, but at the same time very brave and excited about what Full Self Driving can do to help enhance his life. My only wish is that my mom was here to see it. She complained about his driving during their entire marriage. Driving while he was cussing out drivers around him was a huge source of stress for her. I hope he can find some peace behind the wheel but mostly, a lot of fun showing off what his new car can do to other seniors and friends around him. I hope she can still see him and celebrate. This is a man who can't stay still. Every week he goes bowling, plays cards and goes out to dinner with his friends. I can only imagine the first time he shows off how his car can pick him up, driverless, from a parking spot at dinner or the bowling alley. Jaws will drop. I hope it encourages other seniors to buy a Tesla and make their trips much safer. I'm just grateful we've put aside our differences before it was too late. We've always shared a love of technology and I've seen firsthand how it can rebuild bonds between people. I know I will have to be very patient his first few times he charges, drives, etc. I've asked him to download the manual and read it, yes read it. It will help him if he takes the time to do this no matter how boring this sounds. I can't wait to share the experience with you all today. Tesla is changing lives for the better at any age.

I was on a night flight from Tokyo to London last year. Economy was packed. I had the window seat, already half asleep, when I noticed a little girl (maybe 7 or 8) in the middle seat next to me. Her mom was on the aisle, looking exhausted. The girl kept staring at my phone. I was watching an old cartoon with the volume low. She whispered, “Sir, is that Moana?” I smiled and turned the screen a bit so she could see. For the next twenty minutes, we watched together in silence. Then she tapped my arm and said, very seriously: “My daddy is in heaven. He used to call me his little island princess”. Then she added, Can I tell you something? Her mom was asleep by now. I nodded in agreement. She pulled out a crumpled drawing from her bag, a stick-figure man holding a little girl’s hand on a beach. She folded it carefully and slid it into my hand and said: “Please keep this for me, I don’t want to lose it. When I’m scared on the plane, I close my eyes and pretend he’s holding my hand. But tonight I’m not scared because you’re here.”🥺 I didn’t know what to say. I just held that drawing like it was made of glass. Halfway through the flight, the turbulence hit hard. The girl started breathing fast. Without thinking, I reached over, gently took her tiny hand, and whispered, “Your daddy’s right here, princess. Close your eyes.” She squeezed my hand back, smiled, and fell asleep like that for the rest of the journey. When we landed in London, her mom woke up, saw us, and started crying quietly. She told me her husband had passed six months earlier. This was their first trip without him. As they were leaving, the little girl turned around, ran back, and hugged my leg. “Thank you, Sir. You made the sky feel safe.” I still have that crumpled drawing in my wallet.💜

7 hours and 12 drives with FSD v14.3.2, here is my review: This is a HUGE release especially for Actually Smart Summon. Tesla has unified the model between Actually Smart Summon, FSD, and Robotaxi for the best performance and wow, what a massive change! I’m absolutely blown away by how changed it is, the response time from when you start it on your phone to the time the car responds is instantaneous. Aside from the insanely good response time, its performance is insanely smooth. I noticed it also pulls over to the spot you selected it to come to just like a Robotaxi would. Actually Smart Summon is also really great at handling heavy pedestrian traffic and heavy shopping cart traffic as I demonstrated earlier. Super courteous and confident around tough scenarios and I’m very happy to see it. You really feel the unified stack and I’m looking forward to seeing even more new features whether that’s longer range or increased speed. The driving on this build is incredible. It was already so good in v14.3.1 it’s hard to sometimes see change, but the responsiveness, smoothness, and confidence in v14.3.2 is immediately noticeable. It just took it up a whole other notch, I’d say it’s a bigger change than v14.3 -> v14.3.1 was in polish. I got to spend a lot of time on curvy roads tonight in the hills and as expected, FSD v14.3.2 did a great job there as it did before. Slightly smoother inputs than before and excellent performance even in the dark. It even saw road debris on a very dark road before I even saw it, mid corner too. Had a great drive on the highway with it tonight, it stayed out of the passing lane and had good speed control, but there wasn’t much traffic. Will get a 50+ mile drive video in the morning for everyone to see how it does. City street driving was good also, something noted was hurry’s acceleration profile was definitely more linear than before (in a good way.) Parking garage performance was good, it got right up to the ticket window in the perfect spot, then found the first available spot. It was a tighter spot, but it likes to be close up which is good. FSDs reaction time to other cars, pedestrians, cyclists and road debris is exceptional and superhuman like. Seriously impressive with v14.3 overall, pretty mind-blowing how swiftly yet smoothly it can avoid objects or other hazards. Street parking was fantastic for me. Had it pull up to my house 3-4 times in a row and each time it parallel parked or pulled up with precision and in the perfect place. Parking in parking lots was good for me today, the choices have been great and close by to entrances. Also to note on left turns, FSD all but once turned into the first available lane which is great to see. The new FSD intervention reasoning UI is cool to see, definitely more personalized + easier feedback to give. I’ve seen some people say they wish there was a navigation option, as well as it not requiring you to input something. Would like to note that the voice reporting option is also still present as well since some were wondering if it was. This update cadence is fantastic and the builds keep getting better and better. I’m looking forward to getting tons more seat time with FSD v14.3 soon on a very special cross country road trip coming up very shortly in my AI4 Model 3. I do hope the new FSD stats app is out here by then as that’ll come in very handy. THANK YOU @Tesla_AI teams for all the hard work getting these new and improved builds out so quickly. This build rocks!
