This gathering took place at the iconic Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, serving the dual purpose of familiarizing myself with their organization and introducing my vision to them. It was enlightening to discover that this association was officially registered in the year 2015 and represents a significant 70% of the workforce (foot soldiers) within the tourism industry. Our discussion was highly engaging, touching upon various important topics, as outlined below: 1. Request for Legislative Changes: The tour guides expressed their desire to be formally recognized by the government through inclusion in the Tourism Act. They conveyed that back in 2015, they had petitioned for this change. I fully supported their request, understanding that such inclusion would provide them with legal standing and ensure their protection. 2. Emphasis on Professionalism and Order: I underscored the importance of professionalism and order, highlighting that these qualities distinguish developed and developing nations. Upholding world-class standards is paramount in our industry.
