Abiy Ahmed's genocidal massacre against the Amhara people has reached a whole new level. In a horrifying drone strike on a health center in Zibist, Achefere, Gojjam, over 50 innocent Amharas were brutally massacred, including five mothers in labor, along with their family members, companions, and the nurse who was assisting them.
The genocidal massacre extended its cruelty to more than thirteen children playing near a school within a 300-meter radius, fathers gathered for social activities, laborers, people around a church, and individuals working in nearby farmlands.
Where is the journalism from major networks like @CNN, @AJEnglish, @ABC, @guardian, and others? Do the lives of innocent Amharas not matter? Are their stories not worthy of the world’s attention?

Those of you following events in Ethiopia and asking why the FANO are fighting the "Government Forces" in Ethiopia? Can we talk about the other aspect of this, how there are forces within the country that have no regard for sacred institutions and have been and continue to look for any opportunities to erase ethnic Amharas from the landscape of the country. This was part of the objective of the war that took place in the Northern part of the country when fighters of the TPLF committed multiple massacres and attacks on noncombatants in the Amhara and Afar regions. Ethnic Amharas are not “paranoid” about the multiple episodes of mass murder they have endured and how these crimes have been covered up using propaganda and rewritten narratives. To those in the Orthodox faith, you need to understand that the attacks on Chena Teklehaymanot Church occurred on the day commemorating Teklehaymanot as the Tabot was leaving the church. In other words the gunman waited until the Tabot was the focus of the crowd. The parishioners were facing the Tabot, as were the gunman. The gunman chose that moment to open fire, shooting parishioners from behind while ignoring the presence of the Tabot. CHENA, ETHIOPIA - OCTOBER 10: Kes (Priest) Tiftu Ejigu mourns his 40 year old wife and 3 year old daughter at their grave site on the 40th Day commemoration of their deaths at the massacre at Chena Teklehaymanot Church on October 10, 2021 in Chena, Ethiopia. Officials in this part of the Amhara region, which borders Tigray, said Chena was the site of a two-day attack by Tigrayan fighters that began during the Mass (Kidasse) on the annual observance of the day of Saint Teklehaymanot on August 31, that according to local government officials resulted in the deaths of at least 119 civilians even though villagers place the death toll at 207. Tigrayan forces denied responsibility and called the allegations fabricated. The almost yearlong conflict in the Tigray region has spread to neighboring Amhara after the TPLF recaptured most of its home state from government forces in June and then invaded the Amhara and Afar regions in July of 2021. - Average price of Turkish drones widely used in Ethiopia- $5 million
- Estimated price of each missile fired from these drones- $60,000 to $100,000
A report released yesterday by the government appointed Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRCO) has revealed a widespread use of drones in various parts of the country in recent months.
And yet,
- One in three children in Ethiopia are out of school
- Tens of thousands of teachers in Southern Ethiopia are complaining they've not received their salary for over a year
- Public universities are warning their budget for one student currently is a mere 22 Birr (0.40 U.S cent) per day and they're unable to feed them anymore
- Ethiopia's income from foreign trade has declined 30 percent... etc
This begs the question 'What's really happening?'
But still war mongering and bravado rule the day, and observers warn the country could further torn apart if these cycles of violence and conflicts don't end... and end soon!
Exactly six years ago, on May 29 2018 today, I was released after enduring four years of imprisonment. Thousands in Ethiopia and across the globe campaigned tirelessly for my freedom. Leading this campaign in Ethiopia was Meskerem Abera. Now, Meskerem languishes in the same prison where I suffered, a victim of Abiy Ahmed's fascist rule.
Meskerem, like many others who have fallen prey to this repressive regime, has committed no crime except standing for justice for the Amhara people, who have been murdered by the thousands and displaced by the millions.
After my release in 2018, I kept in touch with Meskerem. With her incredible intuitive intelligence, she was one of the first to see through the deceptive nature of Abiy Ahmed and tried to warn me. At the time, I was deceived by his rhetoric of peace, democracy, and unity, and I did not listen.
My failure to heed Meskerem's warnings, despite her and others' insights, remains one of my deepest regrets. Everything she predicted has become a grim reality, many times over.
I want to say, “I’m sorry, Meskerem, for not listening to you.” I am deeply sorry for the sacrifice you are making and the pain you are enduring, separated from your young children.
I promise to do everything in my power until you and your comrades regain your freedom and the just cause for which you are making immense sacrifices prevails.
