@GoodingFrank @IEVAsso You’re correct the UK has had it for awhile, although I like the Irish version better as it negates the requirement for buying a sticker to add on top of the reg plate to “travel”. They may be late to the game, but at least they are still in it. BEV uptake is on the UP in IE!

Starting July 1, 2025, green 'flash' registration plates will identify zero-emission vehicles on our roads. While optional, these plates will help promote the green transition and set battery-only cars, motorbikes, vans, buses, and ... eu1.hubs.ly/H0lmb_d0

@smartroad78 @IEVAsso May we ask why you don’t like the distinctive Green tab on your registration plate? Whilst in France, Belgium & Holland for 6 days this past week we noticed that unless we couldn’t hear the vehicle, we didn’t know which were or weren’t BEVs. Personally I love spot the BEV 😀

@IEVAsso Not sure it will promote that, I wish I didn't have it on my reg. I drive an EV because I feel they are better cars and easier to drive, but ultimately it is still just a car.

Citroen are having some kind of crazy fire sale on Ami. Crazy low finance quotes (it’s like £50 a month with a £200 deposit) Code AMISUMMER drops the OTR price by over £3k

@npmimages @Bitofhonesty @DaleVince Agreed, the whole concept of adopting Zero Emissions Vehicles could have happened much sooner had there been “political” and also commercial will. The trouble with “green” solutions is the lack of profit margin for many existing industries…

Sizewell C is a colossal waste of £40 billion. The same money could fund a rooftop revolution - putting solar panels on 20 million homes - making 25% of all the electricity Britain needs and knocking around 500 quid a year off our energy bills. Let’s bring Energy Independence home.

@npmimages @Bitofhonesty @DaleVince Nigel, do agree with you for the most part, but surely the advances in solar technology are improving everyday? Personally, I just worry that there is still the issue of dealing with the nuclear waste?

@EVGroupsNexus @Bitofhonesty @DaleVince As somone who has solar panels and a battery I'm entirely unconvinced that we can deliver a battery storage solution that could cover a prolonged high-pressure cold period. Nuclear and renewables are complementary and would remove the need for gas almost completely.

Imagine a proven, clean, reliable and sustainable source of energy which even with UK’s ludicrously overpriced construction costs - Nuclear is by far the most economical energy solution and if that doesn’t convince the public - a choice that will cut the amount of cash that Dale and his eco-parasites can sponge off the state has to be a good thing 👍

@ssmethurst_gva @DaleVince So… what do we do with all the Nuclear waste? Good quality solar panels provide energy in limited sun conditions, melt snow, and should ideally be combined with battery storage to maximise energy usage and have to import from the grid as much when there’s no rays from the sun

And at night or when it’s cloudy or when panels are covered in snow. Who provides the back up power then? Renewables play a part. We need SMR plants in every city not covering our fertile lands with solar France has cheap power and nuclear is 70-80% baseload That’s what UK should work towards.

@CB50240480 @DaleVince How odd, everyone I know has them and pays almost nothing in electric bills, they also have battery storage and are very happy to be generating the majority of their own power. If you have cheap, low quality products, solar panels or other equipment, it’s going to be not great.

@Bitofhonesty @DaleVince Solar panels capture energy even when it’s winter. Overnight is where battery storage shines, it takes all the excess energy generated during the daylight hours and stores it until needed at night. Battery storage modules often come from old EV’s, giving them a second life.

@DaleVince How much of the demand will solar panels supply in the evenings, overnight, and generally from October to March? Solar is an important part of the puzzle, nuclear also is.

If I might bother you with more MG video goodness, here’s one on the new MG5, which I drove earlier than most thanks to @caroftheyear. Easy to forget about this in the furore around the MG4, but the 5 still a properly ace family EV. And I do love an estate. #mg5 #mg
