@adampensel the mistake was going toe drag vs simply shooting IMO. he could have passed to ZB but the D is in good position and pass could easily get deflected, and we'd all be on Tage about that instead. He's got a lethal wrister and it's a shame he didnt shoot from the top of circle there

You know, respectfully, I’m kind of tired of seeing this from people. The toe drag was not premeditated here. It was the response to the defenseman laying out and attempting to stick check the puck away. Tage first looks to Benson but sees the pass is being taken away. So once he crosses into the top of the circle he draws the puck into a more natural position to shoot from, hoping to draw the defenseman over to open the pass to Benson. The defenseman recognizes this in real time and lays out for an attempt at the stick check via lunging forward, to which Tage responds with the toe drag to bring it around him and salvage a shot on goal. The entire play was about him trying to open up a passing lane to Benson that never opened. In reality, the second image, he should have gone full shot there. But he wanted the higher quality scoring chance which is the cross ice pass to Benson, because that’s the book on Dobes, and it was just played too cleanly.

@YardsPerPass interestingly, both games featured a significant referreeing blunder costing the teams a chance to win (catch/INT, Beck goal). not surprising

@jmerick84 @YardsPerPass Swayman was good but not that good. Dobes had 1 rough outing in game 6 and was solid the rest of the way, even in the other losses. Recall Habs got to this series getting outshot 30-9 in game 7 at Tampa and somehow stole a 2-1 win. Dobes is their star

@SabresWarpath_ It is remarkable how awful that line has been this series, coupled with Tages turnovers yeeeesh. Tuch is always so tenacious and he looks half interested right now. Tage is in his own head and I think the gold medal/world championships tricked him into thinking he’s a superstar

@ByMHarrington Tage has to finish that breakaway, considering how few chances he’s had in this series. Go up 2 there with all the pressure and momentum, I don’t think Habs recover.

@ByMHarrington 1st period was definitely tilted in habs favour with weak calls on BUF and not equally calling weak stuff on habs. 2nd period was ALL Buffalo being careless/stupid. Lindy has to be all over them in this intermission

#Sabres continued stupid penalties plus wild Montreal crowd on the officials at every opportunity is a bad combination. You're just not getting many calls here. How do you combat it? Other fans need to be crazy like this group. But can any other city match this? Doubt it.

@Bulldogwgr That was easy to spot. What’s worse is he was biting on the deke/shoulder shake down on the goal line so like there’s nowhere caufield is going to beat him if he just holds his post. But this has been UPLs biggest issue as a pro, he overcommits and loses his position

The last replay here is a great example of UPL overplaying. He slides to his post near Caufield so hard that his trailing leg comes off the ice and that’s where he ends up getting beat.

@ByMHarrington congrats to the refs for completely swinging this game to the Habs. Refs didn’t call a single extra liberty Habs were taking on Sabres. They called everything Sabres took on Habs. It is insanely tilted right now, it’s nearly unwatchable

@ByMHarrington this is either going to go really really good, or really really bad...i'm not sure there's going to be an in-between here. when UPL is on, he's ON...when he's not...woooff...and i dont know if this team has it in them to come back from 3-1 down, so this is definitely a gamble.
