⚠️ GOLF BALLS in Hanson Park right now, about to pelt south Reston. Hailstorm about to enter the Beltway en route to D.C. Wolf Trap, Tysons, Idylwood and Falls Church are likely next for hail. Severe thunderstorm warning.

@Kellblog This was at the top of my feed when I signed in for a breaking news event (the one thing I still use this site for). I really miss your content and would love to follow it on threads, bluesky, or LinkedIn where I am regularly.

My Twitter impressions continue to fall, reducing my interest in posting on the platform. I don’t think my content’s changed, but my audience might be shrinking as they flee the platform, and the algorithm has definitely deprioritized my favorite tweet forms: simple reposts and posts with external links. I personally have way more trouble finding interesting content, trending and for-you don’t produce things of interest, once-solid topics (e.g., AI) are flooded with garbage (e.g., “how to make $5k using AI” classes now free, discounted from $150”)

The Alexandria project's website has nothing solid on how much of the arena would be publicly funded, though there is awesome vaportecture featuring the world's least popular band playing before 30 people all sitting in Adirondack chairs: fieldofschemes.com/2023/12/14/207…

@OnlyCFO Wild take. If you’re held hostage, that means you believe employees do have the power to demand this stuff - and you’re correct, at least in terms of the employees you don’t want to churn.

Funny how many tech companies are being held hostage by employees. They are still drunk on ZIRP era rules The demand list is long: -Promotions every year -Regular non-merit based raises -Talk about culture and political correctness more than actual work -Refuse to work in an office -40 hour work week tops -Must make us feel special

@jerryjamesstone I set it to run after midnight when I do the main dinner dishes which allows me to throw any last dessert stuff or other stuff I find the rest of the night - but I don’t have to decide what was the last thing and hit run.

If your area built out in the 1920s, it almost certainly had this - I've found them all over Del Ray and adjacent areas. This one from Brenton (around Luray/Glendale/Adams) specifies Caucasians only for 99 years from 1925... for those keeping track at home, that's...next year.

Last night a resident sent me the attached covenant that was recorded on their property in North Ridge. Of note is not provision 4, which was as routine as it is horrifying. More of note is that nearly every other provision remain in our Zoning Code today.

“Heck no!”
Justin Wilson@justindotnet

@AJNarod Heck no. Widening roads would simply attract more cut-through traffic from other jurisdictions. We will, however, continue expansion of mass transit, improving frequency and coverage of service around our community.

@ThomasKunjappu This is a very California take! On the east coast we are back to school already, plus it’s been sweltering for months and the only way to survive another month of it is to anticipate fall.

August could be great. If only it could live in the present more. There's too much back to school, pumpkin lattes, and halloween decorations.

@MichaelRStrain @jon_rauch The days where “party insiders played a key role in choosing presidential candidates” are LONG gone. The GOP chose a different path and there’s no rewind button.
