@caitieexoxo There is roughly 8 million tonnes of plastic dumped into ocean's annually. What is your best suggestion for how to combat this ongoing input of plastic to our oceans in a way that won't affect economies in a drastic way? #EM203robin

We need to tackle plastic pollution, and the California Plastic Reduction Act is an ambitious bill to do just that. Tell your reps that plastic waste reduction matters to you and to vote #YesOn54 and #YesOn1080. bit.ly/2A22fLw

One fish.
One plastic bag.
One diver.
Entire ecosystems.
Millions of tonnes of waste (per year).
One planet.
Plastic waste is choking us all.

Community teamwork is essential for ocean restoration but the quantity of plastic has accumulated to the point where technology has to be incorporated to make a large impact on removing garbage in the planet's ocean's

In todays age something like this seems to happen far too often, racial profiling continues to be a problem among multicultural countries. Change needs to be made among all age groups on they way different cultures are viewed and how they are treated. #EM203Robin

@EM203JCiccia Learning by doing has always been a very useful tool when it comes to improving any sort of skills. A common term used is “practice makes perfect” and i think it works really well with the idea of learning by doing due to past experience with this learning technique.

The engaging activities in this course help keep students heavily involved through group discussions. In week 2, I discovered many of the benefits that come with Learning by Doing, and how we can implement that into many different teaching strategies.

@SydWLU The internet has endless uses and continues to evolve. As you mentioned the older generations tends to use the internet for different things than younger people. i beleive that with facebooks wide variety of applications this imbalance of internet use will change!

Younger generations are often defined as tech savvy and constantly online, but my EM203 course has taught me that Canadian adults are some of the heaviest internet users out there! #EM203Robin

@MattCam49978914 Technology has greatly increased the ability for people to learn based on the availability of information online for people to access. Not only does the internet provide endless oppertunity to learn new things but it is also very useful in a classroom setting to aid students.

So far in #EM203Robin I have learned about the development of technology over the years and how this growth has fueled the development of new education programs which are able to leverage technology to enhance the learning process around the globe.
English

@EM203Annyse It is amazing the dependence kids and young adults have on technology these days. While it is very beneficial in many ways when it comes to schooling, its important to not allow the social aspect of tech to influence the choices you make as an individual in everyday life.

@Em203Knoel I agree! The third lesson opened my eyes to some different forms of learning and how they can be applied to different subjects in a variety of ways to help the student retain the knowledge to the best of their ability!
English

I think the first three classes have been very engaging! My favourite lesson so far is the third lesson because, in my opinion, it challenged us in a different way and the task options were unique and different. Thus far, EM203 has teaching me to broaden my horizons. #EM203Robin

#EM203Robin is a very unique course, drawing aspects from social media and integrating it into the class material. This past week constructivism was studied in detail and its a very unique strategy of learning by the way users approach complex problems and how to solve them.
