@mokanjim Gives other packers more leverage to a now bigger supply by 25,000 a week! Not so much this round but usually backs cattle up making supply burdensome. Which means lower usually. But we spreader dropped quite a bit already

Tyson is closing one of the largest beef plants in the country right in the middle of the cattle shortage. When kill capacity drops, less beef hits the market and boxed beef prices usually go UP — not down. So how does shutting down a 5,000-head-per-day plant help “lower beef prices”? It doesn’t. But it does give packers more leverage on fat cattle. Good job @POTUS

Part of getting older is I keep losing my heros. He had the best Red Angus cows. An incredible fleet of round cabs and a shed full of 43 and 4020s. I chopped for him with a 5830 & gas trucks clear up to where I said I was quitting. He still talked me into chopping his last pile.

I just got off the phone with a Retired air force base commander. He told me he always said to his higher ups to have 3 hours of work planned out for the day because the rest of it is going to get taken up by other people or problems. I thought that was an interesting way to look at it, basically don’t plan on much more than 3 hours of “new work” and don’t be disappointed if you spend 6 or 7 fighting entropy.

@leereichmuth We are at a different level. Way too much risk/reward. Giving away any profit just to own a steer. Funds nervous to buy futures. I don’t think I want to either but it might make more sense that feeder cattle! But on other side empty pens showing up

Why all the bearishness from analysts in cattle? Huge production being sold at all time highs. Yes, what feeders are bringing may not make any money due to such high first cost but that doesn’t mean we can’t sell beef at current $ levels. So many analysts have been wrong!! 🤷‍♂️

50 years ago yardage was .13. Postage was .13. Then .18 .18. Then .25 .25. Then .30 .30 And so on! I went to post office yesterday and a stamp is .73. Just sayin
