@FortniteStatus ⚠️ To prevent an issue with tanking player numbers, we’ve disabled all SBMM changes made in December 2025 as well as allowing you to hunt for Sprites in bot lobbies, because god forbid we allow our players to have the slightest bit of fun!

⚠️ To prevent an issue, we have temporarily disabled Sprite Throwing. If you want to drop a Sprite, you can open your inventory and drop it.

Make a new FN account, win a few games, then go into duos with your main. You’ll instantly get thrown into insanely difficult lobbies — the new account changes NOTHING. This is exactly why people hunt Sprites in bot lobbies. Post‑Dec ‘25 SBMM has everyone exhausted. #fortnite

@RealityCat22 People like the concept of a PvP Battle Royale, they don’t however like the concept of being matchmade into lobbies way above their skill level. SBMM is completely broken and is determined by the “highest skilled player” in a party. No fun at all.

A lot of the quotes/replies show how many people actually don't like the concept of a PvP Battle Royale I don't understand why they play BR if they don't like PvP 😭🙏

@iTropicalfire A post I can get behind. SBMM has been broken since Dec ‘25. Got a group you regularly play with? SAY GOODBYE TO THEM 😎 My friends who play on switch and mobile can no longer play FN with me because they get obliterated in my PC lobbies.

I don’t think the discourse around this would be as big as it is if Fortnite focused on fixing their servers and tweaking sbmm.

@ThePieceOfGras I love that this is factually INCORRECT 😎 @EpicTofuChris provided an explanation on the NEW system (sharks and minnows) that was implemented as of December ‘25. Mixed groups now suffer at the hands of the highest skilled player.

my largest hot take once again: they just gotta cut out bot lobbies at this point it’s cultivated an audience of people that don’t like the core gameplay of fortnite

The sprites/bot lobbies controversy emphasises the point that SBMM is fundamentally broken. People can’t enjoy this seasons gimmick while fighting in FNCS lobbies that they aren’t even supposed to be in. FIX SBMM! #bringbackspritesinbotlobbies #fortnite

@Cawsmiic You’re a content creator for ghost gaming and you have earnings in comp, this isn’t your lane, not to be rude. The majority are not at your skill level, yet we’re forced into lobbies with players at your level even though most people are at that “decent but not upper tier” level

Not to be rude, but if you are genuinely mad at this, it's a skill issue. The whole point of this is that you have the chance of losing them, and if you NEED to farm them in bot lobbies GG

@M4rshallBTW On paper, this season is good, but all that hard work from the developers is completely undermined by this god awful SBMM. It’s impossible to enjoy when the system is SO tight and unforgiving. Playing with friends/family is completely out of the window too.

Prime example of forcing player stats. Takes longer to get sprites in real lobbies meaning people or forced to play more and longer in order to collect them. Rather than making a good season with fair SBMM they would rather suck the joy from people who for years have been loyal
