Brian, it is where we're at. American has evolved, yet slavery still exists. I believe Trump is getting to the root of the discontent in this country. People who constantly complain about how bad our country is, will never see what we could do to make things better. Let's find solutions.

This is dystopian -- and dangerous. What we are seeing right now is the politicization of law enforcement and the National Guard, a move that is both authoritarian and disrespectful to both residents, Guardsmen, and law enforcement. Reducing crime is a goal of all elected officials, but this is not about reducing crime. It's about consolidating power and intimidating political opponents. The same president who did nothing to stop a violent mob storming the Capitol -- and later pardoned the very people who attacked law enforcement in the nation's capital -- is now pretending to care about public safety in DC. Give me a break. Occupying an American city does not reduce crime, in fact it often harms the city's public safety and economy. As Wilmington knows all too well from the year-long occupation of our city in the late 1960s, the negative impact can reverberate for decades. These actions reinforce why it is so important to support the efforts in Texas -- and the counter efforts in places like California -- to fight back against the attempt to rig the midterm election by changing the rules mid-game to cement a compliant majority in the House. We need a real check on this president. The only way we achieve the accountability levers in our system is to win and win resoundingly next November.
