Do you know what’s a massive fucking scam? The Duke of Edinburgh award. My daughter’s school is asking £120 for the “bronze award” and they still sell it as “it’ll look great on your CV.” Not once has anyone asked me or taken an interest in whether I have it.

@thesamparr There are so many stories like this within the pharmaceutical industry and they make me very skeptical of drugs such as Ozempic. History has shown that they will do anything for a profit. I don’t trust the pharmaceutical industry one bit.

And after reading this: makes me angry at the FDA and pharma in general. Which obviously isn't fair as you can't sh*t on an industry with millions of people, many of whom do great work, but man it changed my perspective.

Went on a Sackler family binge (creators of oxycontin). Read Empire of Pain as well as watched Painkiller on Netflix and Dopesick. I don't think I've felt this much anger towards someone in a long time. What a horrible, yet fascinating, family. The patriarch, Arthur, was an amazing entrepreneur. Built an empire from scratch and had hit after hit. Had multiple winning businesses. That part is inspiring. However, he was as unethical as it gets and his marketing techniques killed millions. He helped pioneer pharmaceutical marketing, which in itself maybe isn't bad, but he'd just blatantly lie. Fake claims in the ads of zero side effects, fake testimonials, fake doctors. In the 60's he owned the medical publications the ads were in, he made the ads, had people on the payroll in the FDA to get the drugs approved. Then, in the 90's the Sackler family took his techniques and applied it to Oxycontin. And that's when things went crazy. I can't stop reading about these folks. Any other good content on them?

@LaVidaLolaaa The only real way to cut the cost of a wedding is to have less people attend. That way ordering fewer table flower arrangements does not seem so obvious that it’s for a wedding. When you start dealing with guests more than 100 it’s hard to do.

I’m just gonna say that I know a girl who wanted cupcakes for her wedding and didn’t tell the bakery they were for her wedding because the order would have been $1000+ more dollars for the bridal markup had they known it was for a wedding…..
