"Our rights, our future, right now." 💪
Oxfam Ireland@OxfamIreland

Today is World Human Rights Day 🌍 It is our mission to fight inequality to end poverty and injustice. When someone is denied their rights, the result is poverty. Many of our partners work to empower people to know their rights. Our partner in Uganda, @RRightsAfrica, educates people on their rights when it comes to natural resources. “First of all, empower people with information about these resources and their rights over these resources. If they have the information, they are able to demand transparency and accountability from people who are using these resources,” says Fridah Musiime, Head of Programmes at Resource Rights Africa. This year’s theme is “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now.” We continue to work to ensure that everyone can thrive in a just and sustainable world. Over the weekend we held a mini reunion for Kyebambe Old Girls. Kyebambe girls school was founded in 1910 and it wa named after Omukama Kyebambe. It was so exciting reminiscing about our time there. I particularly narrated how I participated in a demonstration one week after joining the school, I didn’t even have a uniform. I jumped over the the fence to join the rest when security locked the school gate before I could moved out. At the reunion, we resolved to embark on yet another project of constructing a perimeter wall to ensure safety of the girls. If you are on old girl, kindly DM. Kyebambe made us who we are and we therefore must render all the support we can. Mukwekamba Tutaba Bagara, we are the stars, we shine wherever we go.

Dear Friends and Comrades, Thank you all for traveling from far and wide for my brother’s funeral. My family and I were touched beyond words. We shall forever be grateful. It bothers me on a daily basis that my brother’s murder might join many of those unresolved murders. It bothers me daily that the murderers will continue to kill more innocent Ugandans struggling to earn a living by all means. Rest well bro, Rest well “man of the house”, Ogende kurungi Apuuli. Forever in our hearts 💕

The EU's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) is a game-changer for business and human rights. This landmark legislation requires companies to investigate human rights and environmental risks in their operations and value chains, and take measures to prevent or mitigate harm. #BHRUganda2024

@aireeta Truth is the street smart are the biggest survivors in our current environment. By the way, do we still talk about education being the key to success?

Someone said being street smart Vs school grades is a myth. It really comes down to the environment. In places where many don't go to "school", this couldn't be farther from the truth. There are kids that started smuggling at borders as early as 15 and are rich at 30 4 example
