You're insane. Food is unbelievably cheap in Thailand compared to the US. I go to Thailand every 2 years, and it's dramatically cheaper than here in the US. That goes for restaurants, street food, etc. I remember I took my wife's entire family out to a Japanese restaurant with robot servers in Thailand, and the cost of feeding 8 people was about the same as I would have paid to eat myself in the US.

Have you ever been to Asia? Its actually FAR more expensive for food here (I live in Thailand). Yes you can get $2 rice on the street... But thats exactly what it is, rice. And its probably cheaper in America. Try to buy an equivalent amount of chicken or beef and its 2x or 3x more expensive at restaruants and in grocery stores than it is in America. Real talk. America has by far the cheapest food in the world. Ive been a "digital nomad" for over 20 years.

@retardrepost @TheLaurenChen Eating this as I type in Thailand. 4 fried chicken skewers and a bag of sticky rice. Each skewer costs 10 Baht (USD$ 0.31) and so does the rice. Total 50 Baht (USD $1.53) (For scale, the rice is the size of a slice of toast)

@TheLaurenChen There is no place in the world that serves an equivalent dish for cheaper than you can make it at home. Yeah you can get a 45hkd breakfast in Hong Kong but it's a pack of instant noodles and a slice of spam that would cost you much less to make yourself.

@GaryKruah @ApoStructura Do you have evidence of that? Do you also honestly believe that the reason Japan has a high trust society is mostly due to government enforcement?

This is insane. The historic Église Saint-Cyriaque church in Montenach, France, was just set on fire. Survived both world wars but couldn’t survive diversity.

@ErosNlght @ApoStructura Japan has low passive surveillance compared to NYC but an extremely active decentralized police force that is heavily integrated into their communities. The police collect constant data on people in their neighbourhoods. They also sacrifice privacy for public safety.

Quite a few actually but that’s beside the point. You claimed you need a surveillance state in order to produce a higher trust society. That is just plain wrong, you can emulate a high trust society through excessive government intervention, but it is far from the only way. Take for instance leaving a bag or laptop in a public area that does not seem to be immediately connected to someone. Would I get arrested for stealing if I picked up a random backpack in the middle of the sidewalk with no one around… no. And yet the backpack would be safe in say Japan and not in New York. NYC undoubtedly has a higher concentration of surveillance. If i go to a monastery community, they are likely to have little to no surveillance snd yet would be an incredibly trustworthy and safe community.

@GaryKruah @ApoStructura No, it won't. Not in the west. Cognitive ability is heritable, & a small admixture of dumb people can mix with others and become diluted, but we're literally importing people who have majority rates of consanguineous marriage (& have for generations).

@ErosNlght @ApoStructura Let me be clear, the mass surveillance is a minor factor compared to density. Brightly lit, high density cities correlate very strongly with lower crime rates. Also what society is teaching their children to rob, murder and rape. None.

No, populations do not always require a dominating police state to have community values like this. I do not litter at all, it’s not because I’m scared of being arrested. I don’t graffiti, would not pickup a bag that’s not mine, etc. Non of this is due to fear of consequences by the state, it was imbued in me growing up that this is just the right things to do.

The 12%-ers... you've met them. They walk among you like giants. Hormonally healthy, clear skin, normal cognitive faculties. You can easily identify them by the fact that they don't suffer from chronic illness and aren't obese.
