@IrrefutableV @KristinFisher They don’t care what happens once it lands, it blowing up is expected as the ship (once it’s simulated the tower catch manoeuvre) just naturally flops over after the engines have shutdown naturally causing structural failure

@KristinFisher It's always "oh, we planned to do that". Get out of here. There's a treasure trove of data and information to glean from the re-entered Starship. I don't believe for one second they intentionally blow these up.

@outofwritings @JoeTegtmeyer We don't know if it was the hydraulic actuator that was the issue, could be a multitude of things preventing retraction. Hydraulics are realiable.

@JoeTegtmeyer Why not electrically operated for this too? They went through so much effort to replace all hydraulics on the ship and booster. Why not the arm too? Odd choice to retain something that's prone to be buggy.

All eyes on Flight 12 and the ship quick disconnect arm, which because of a reluctant hydraulically operated pin, was unable to swing away during yesterday’s launch attempt. After over 8 hours of work, some welding & other adjustments and tests, crews here seem to be confident it has been fixed and now @SpaceX can try to launch again later today! Here are some close ups from this morning just before the road closed to prep for launch, which is currently planned for 5:30 PM CST with a 1 1/2 hour window. Check out @esherifftv (Ellie in Space) for her livestream with me later today!

@Georgerbarl Not sure if it's what you're asking about but their go/no go poll for fueling happens at t-50 minutes.

@orionlensguy @Flight2Starship I think FAA licensing is the least thing that is bottlenecking the launch. More likely ensuring the deluge farm doesn't re-explode and whatever they are now doing on the launch mount is done.

@Flight2Starship I ignore the speculation and watch the road closures. FAA licensing is the bottleneck right now. Neither date means anything without a TFR 🚀

I don’t mind if Flight 12 delays but takes like are fucking shit when there is evidence to suggest otherwise (days to launch)

@ItsMrSensible @rapiddescentsco I'd assume it would make out the brick wall, like the dash cam did as it went over the SLOW markings, and start to reduce speed in anticipation of what may be ahead, by which point it would be going around the corner at around 30 ish, having a greater ability to handle corner.

Tesla Autosteer is fucking scary on UK roads compared to the amazing FSD videos from the USA. Autosteer just abandoned steering on a corner leaving me to save the car. Lightning reactions from me with an extremely sharp jab at the steering wheel... Model3, hw3, Scotland.

@StarCobShipSon Don’t think it’s the time to fix that’s the issue, it’s the time to make sure why and that it won’t happen again

@bil0090 @bruvimtired It has better awareness of using Xcode, notably allowing Claude to easily screenshot and look at the preview editor when editing.

@Lihizz @_MaxQ_ You have to remember there’s only so much they can model without literally subjecting the pad to 33 engines. This is just teething issues because it is a new pad and very complex one at that.

@_MaxQ_ Having watched that and hearing 33 engine static fire was aborted because of manifold pressure issues which I speculated is something that worries me. Its SpaceX so I know they can fix it but can they fix it to meet the reusability goal of the pad

We have waited a VERY long time for an update on Starship’s status of this magnitude - the amount of detail we see/hear here and the NEW ANGLES THAT WE’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE are insane!!! MUST WATCH

@tylershez @TgmFin @NASASpaceflight Nominal shutdown and relight is ramped to prevent mechanical damage which R3 can handle, it appears it couldn’t handle an aborted shutdown. Whilst it defo needs to be fixed it doesn’t mean they can’t relight engines in normal circumstances.

@TgmFin @NASASpaceflight Seems like the fast shutdown causes damage to the engines so yeah that’s definitely an issue if they to be able to relight engines

@TgmFin @NASASpaceflight @bestboogeyman As far as we can tell it only takes a few weeks to complete post SF checkouts before launch readiness, we’re probably looking at 1-2 months until launch

@business Meanwhile, Anthropic just pulled Claude Code from the Pro plan. Pro users wanting it need Max now. $100/month minimum. 5x jump. I'm on Max 20x so I'm fine. Flagging for anyone on Pro who's about to find out. No announcement. Just a pricing page edit.
