I wondered if I read these reports correctly...because I could not believe that in 2026, this is the type of comment being made by a female member of Parliament! What a retrogressive statement and state of mind! You know, when measured against other countries across the world, Jamaica is one of the better performing countries in terms of women in leadership. But we are not without challenges, and gains can be lost if we are not careful. It is one thing when the efforts at disempowerment come from predictable male spaces - an entirely different thing when they come from women who should be fighting the same battles. @JulietHolness has been an exemplary role model and an inspiration to countless girls who aspire to be strong leaders - long may she continue to do so despite the best efforts of some - including those who have yet to achieve a fraction of what the Speaker has professionally, politically and otherwise! Just incredible. Clearly an apology is unlikely from this quarter, but I hope that even one person in the PNP Women's movement will at least sit down with Ms Burchell and give her some counsel.

This is very TRUE. CANADA has a free medical but Canada’s medical system is the MOST PATHETIC in the world. My Canadian friend had minor fracture in his hand he waited for 18 hours to get the operation done few years back. I don’t understand what type of agreement Canada has they bring those black doctors from South African countries and they are ABSOLUTELY BRAINLESS AND CLUELESS. I don’t even understand how the hell even they get their degree and practice medicine in Canada. Canada’s medical system is the WORST on this planet.

Hello, this is an unfortunate and rather selfish comment. The Eastern end of the island has connectivity issues which the MP is using his portfolio to address. Portland was not flattened by the Hurricane and the damage to West Portland is incomparable to what I witnessed in Western Jamaica. Yesterday I had to airlift a family, with 3 babies, 2 newborns who were cut off from any aid. Give them the airlift and stay on the ground until they got to safety. I am pushing for telecos to get reconnected but I beg of us all to know that we are ALL in this TOGETHER. DM with details of your relatives and I can mobilize a team on the ground but please do not for a moment suggest I am not doing my best on all fronts. Very unfortunate.
