Thank you @WVGovernor Morrisey and legislators for leading the nation in passing a bill to clean up our food supply and submitting a waiver to remove soda from SNAP. I commend the 24 states pushing MAHA bills to clean up our food system, improve school lunches, submit waivers to SNAP, and promote patient choice. This state leadership adds leverage to the Trump administration’s drive to Make America Healthy Again. I urge every Governor to follow West Virginia’s lead and submit a waiver to the USDA to remove soda from SNAP. If there’s one thing we can agree on, it should be eliminating taxpayer-funded soda subsidies for lower income kids. I look forward to inviting every Governor who submits a waiver to come celebrate with me at the White House this fall. Thank you @USDA @SecRollins for your leadership on this vital issue for children’s health.

We are streamlining HHS to make our agency more efficient and more effective. We will eliminate an entire alphabet soup of departments, while preserving their core functions by merging them into a new organization called the Administration for a Healthy America or AHA. This overhaul will improve the health of the entire nation — to Make America Healthy Again.

Instead of inspiring universal condemnation, the October 7 holocaust triggered a global wave of anti-Semitism. Ivy league campuses became a greenhouse for poison. President Trump has ordered his cabinet to use every constitutional tool to uproot this divisive weed. I’m glad Columbia has agreed to this first step and will begin to restore itself as a garden of tolerance, reason, compassion, and respect.

“We’ve been able to recruit higher quality personnel to HHS than in any time in its history. These are individuals who will return the agency to gold-standard science, evidence-based medicine, and recalibrate its trajectory toward public health rather than industry profiteering.” @SecKennedy

I had a wonderful visit at a Head Start program in Alexandria, Virginia today. As we celebrate National Nutrition Month, @HHSGov is reinforcing its commitment to Make America Healthy Again by prioritizing healthy eating and nutrition for Head Start grantees. We are encouraging programs to switch from low-fat dairy – which the antiquated Dietary Guidelines require them to promote – to full fat/whole milk.

.@SecKennedy today visited Louisa County High School in Mineral, Virginia with @GovernorVA Youngkin. They engaged with students and staff to witness the success and importance of bell-to-bell cell-phone free education. SAMHSA has been working to improve our understanding of the impact of cell phones and social media use on young people and leveraging @HHSgov grant funding and technical assistance to help support state, community, and school efforts to improve mental health and wellbeing.

I am directing the FDA commissioner to start the process of changing the rules to eliminate the self-affirmed GRAS pathway for new ingredients. I am also calling on the @US_FDA and @NIH continue to conduct and improve post-market assessments of GRAS chemicals currently in our food so we can rapidly identify the compounds that are making Americans so sick, and so that American consumers and regulators can make informed decisions. This is an important step in our pursuit to Make America Healthy Again.
