Years ago, I was dating this sister I really wanted to marry. I believed it was the will of God. I did everything I knew to do because I didn’t want to waste mine or her time. But things weren’t going as expected. We were always having serious issues on petty things. Breaking up wasn’t an option for me because I’m not one to break my word or turn back on my convictions. So I tried to fix it. One day in discussing my concerns Apostle Gideon told me a story about Abraham and Eliezer. Eliezer had sworn an oath to bring a wife for Isaac but then he asked, “what if the damsel refuses to come up, do I take Isaac down?” It was that point Abraham told him that Isaac staying up was more important than the promise to marry. That was my deliverance. When she eventually broke the relationship it made it easier for me to stop trying to fix it. The pain of a breakup is better than the reality of going down. That breakup was painful sha because we had invested four years. Thank God for godly friends. I remember discussing my frustrations with Josh and he was as devastated as I was. I learned. God will not want his son or daughter to go down just to marry. If the person won’t come up, walk away.

Dear Pilgrim, Getting emotional or sentmental over what God has rejected will not change God's position on the matter. "Samuel, how long will you weep over Saul seeing that I have rejected him..." A generation may give new names to old sins, attempt to Christianize an abomination, or raise cheer leaders and praise singers in order to legitimize a corrupted system, but none of these can move the needle in the spirit. The foundation of God stands sure having this seal that the Lord knows those who are His. Therefore, let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity; depart from lawlessness. Beloved, that which you are part of is a fellowship in the Spirit. A flock under the shepherd Christ and a family under God as Father. Those who live in this consciousness also understand the responsibility it brings. We can not be lawless. Jesus will not only be Saviour, He MUST be Lord and King over all you are and have. Not everything goes. Not everything is acceptable. Not everything is beneficial. We are in the world but not of it. The lines must not be blurred. That it is popular and widely accepted does not mean God has allowed you to be partakers of it. The voice of the people is not the voice of God. When you check carefully, you will find that popular Christianity is never Biblical, and Biblical Christianity is always unpopular. Pilgrim, our distinctions must be obvious to even the "blind." Once men become confused about our identity, we have lost the plot! If we refuse to be separate, we will be weak. The potency of the church is in her distinction. Thus says the Lord, Come out from amongst them and be ye separate! Dear Pilgrim, as you go into the weekend, may this be your prayer: When all is said and done. When all battles fought and won. Keep me standing. May I not be bent over! May he that reads understand!
