@MTGchicago @CTownEnjoyer @SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official another dishonest reading! if they already have standard raise periods they cannot delay or choose to not do them during negotiations! that would be a violation of status quo and is seen as bad faith bargaining this is the same for bonuses and promotions they cant just skip those

@Hieguyisme @CTownEnjoyer @SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official You also have to remember that the negotiations can take up to 2+ years and within that time your pay. Raises. Bonus and growth within the company can be put on hold until complete. But yes everything is negotiable. That’s a pretty blank letter that Wotc sent. But true.

This letter was allegedly sent to @uwotc_official members. “All benefits and perks you currently enjoy would be on the bargaining table." Does that sound like a threat to anyone else? Because it sounds like a threat to me. I stand with UWOTC union members. ✊

@AngyVikingr You always had an option buddy you have the power to campaign within your union and join your bargaining team. You can always put in the work to improve your union but a lot of rank and file members just arent willing which is what causes weak contracts to form.

"Why would anyone agree to worse conditions in a contract" oh my sweet summer child. Unions don't give you any other option, especially the longer the "negotiations" take, you eventually hit a point where "this is the deal, take it or leave it" -former union member
hieguy@Hieguyisme

@CTownEnjoyer @SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official sure but that's a dishonest read of it. The workers have to vote to authorize a contract if they dont like how the contract reads they can reject it and make the company come back to the bargaining table to renegotiate. Why would anyone agree to worse conditions in a contract?

@CTownEnjoyer @SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official if you truly believe that the entire Arena team going on strike would not provide the leverage they need to get a good contract then you are delusional. Everyone is replaceable to an extent sure but it will still cost a lot to replace an entire team all at once.

@Hieguyisme @CTownEnjoyer @SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official If a union contract dictates a high level position thave annual salary of 100k, with a 4% annual raise, that employee must go through the union if he needs a raise. The union may help him, but if they have other priorities they may say no, leaving the employee with no recourse.

@Hieguyisme @CTownEnjoyer @SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official Most likely, depends on their demands. Hopefully they all get treated super well, but once that contract locks in, these top performers lose their leverage, and the response to any kind of negotiation is “talk to your union rep”.

@Hieguyisme @CTownEnjoyer @SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official But from a business perspective you want to give special privileges to your top performers. You can’t give the same treatment to everyone, unless you scale everything down, and if the top performers are okay with that, then alright. They get what everyone else gets too.

@DaCrystalGolem @CTownEnjoyer @SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official I dont think that's accurate at all to be honest with you collective action would include those employees and would just spread the leverage to the rest of their co workers. I think it's fair to say they have less to gain but still EVERYONE gains with a union.

@Hieguyisme @CTownEnjoyer @SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official It’s like general number to represent their top employees, like the ultra-skilled ones, the ones that have leverage and can negotiate terms beneficial for them. The bottom 98% aren’t on their level so it’s more beneficial for them to unionize since that way they have leverage.

@Hieguyisme @CTownEnjoyer @SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official I think for most people being unionized is ideal, if the union makes reasonable demands. Companies that change things up is pretty crummy, definitely not perfect. But im just trying to answer your initial question, and the answer is that in some cases you can get a worse deal.

@Hieguyisme @CTownEnjoyer @SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official Yeah but they’re negotiating as a collective and individual circumstances often don’t supersede the whole. But it ultimately depends on the negotiation. if they can accommodate everyone’s needs then that’s great, but your union rep isn’t just repping you, he’s repping everyone.

@DaCrystalGolem @CTownEnjoyer @SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official and these are all things that can be discussed with your union during the negotiation process the contract isnt being negotiated by some third party it's being done by the guy you've worked with for years who you can talk to about your situation and needs.

@Hieguyisme @CTownEnjoyer @SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official Or maybe one employee really enjoys the coverage they have, but under a union contract they are forced to take a plan negotiated by the union. For example let’s say a person is currently under a Kaiser plan, but the union has negotiated to only use United Healthcare.

Some of the industries biggest games are union represented with CWA. That said — we, the workers of MTGA, came together to form this union. Ultimately it will be us deciding democratically what issues are most important to us when we sit at the bargaining table.

@SteelCitySteph @uwotc_official It’s a statement of fact. That’s the reality of what happens when a union comes in. There is no guarantee the final result benefits workers, it may even be a detriment.

Since the announcement of our union, Wizards of the Coast has hired Fisher Phillips (a union avoidance firm), and chosen to engage in a daily union-avoidance campaign by sending emails to the Arena team that is spreading misinformation and sowing fear among our colleagues.

Hi all. I'm sorry I disappeared. Making a non-comic thing that I hope will be out next month. You deserve better than merch, but I restocked the store with my 3 favorite designs. I tried to keep prices as low as possible. Thank you for everything. whomp.creator-spring.com (cont.)

Alright, let's rip the bandaid off. What do you dislike about D&D that you've found solutions for in different games? BE CONSTRUCTIVE! I know it's cool to hate D&D, but I genuinely want to know your thoughts constructively without emotion getting in the way.
