Interestingly, Victoria now has the lowest case rate of any state/territory in Australia. The first time ever since COVID zero ended. There has been a 2nd noticeable Omicron spike recently seen across all states/territories. Victoria has definitely been hit the lightest by this.

@carlslj @DarylTractor We all got covid. No dosed 6 year old and 3 year old no symptoms at all. No dosed 18 mth old mild fever/cold symptoms fine after 2 days. 3 dosed hubby almost hospitalised. 2 dosed me quite unwell but manageable.

Face masks are no longer required in most settings. 😷 You still need one in healthcare settings, disability and aged care facilities, prisons, on planes and when riding public transport. We also strongly recommend you wear one whenever you can't socially distance.

I think it's notable that case numbers have remained steady/slowly decreasing in Victoria, even with school return. We've invested a lot in multiple risk mitigations, including testing and ventilation, with masks as well. Good, if early, results.

Why get a booster dose? Well, a 68-fold reduction in risk of dying compared to unvaxxed is a start. But a 7-fold risk reduction compared to being two-dose vaccinated is the most relevant for the great majority of us. A no-brainer.

@alcharalambous Children do seem to be getting really quite poorly with covid, more so than we were told they would. Schools being kept open were/are huge issue for govt. that’s ok, as long as the reality was/is being faced up to. Sadly I’m my view commerce seems to be overriding safety of kids.

One of mine was hospitalised with gastro last year tho so I think we should lockdown until every child is vaccinated against gastro as my child got very sick.
