@PurtleClaire @Mark_Butler_MP Not getting your hands on my 3 kids thanks! (FYI I'm not an anti vaxer and am vaccinated myself and are now suffering the consequences of accepting an untested vaccine)

From 12:01am on Thursday 5/1/23, people travelling to Australia from China including the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau will be required to undertake a COVID-19 test within the 48hrs prior to travel and show evidence of a negative test.

@heidimur Who would of thought banning kids from swimming lessons for 2 years would have repercussions? It's ok if they drown we saved them from a virus they have virtually 0% chance of dying from.

Victorian Department of Health
This week we reported 27,790 new cases with a daily average hospital occupancy of 682 and 28 patients in ICU. 85 deaths were reported in the past 7 days. Our thoughts are with those in hospital, and the families of people who have lost their lives.

@CazL1 @DrShaneRRR You mean you were in the correct category or age bracket to have early access? Whilst younger folk had to wait? Yep you're a hero and we're the villains. Damn us for being under 40.

I’m about to hit 6 months since my 3rd vaccination against Covid. ATAGI says NO to a booster. Those of us who got vaccinated early are now being screwed over. Vaccine doses are being binned and we cannot get them. What utter nonsense.

@DrKGregorevic We are masked in WA. Check out our dashboard. Masks work given our vax rates are same/similar. 😎

The idea that restrictions on people working in retail or children will stop unvaccinated or under vaccinated people at risk from catching COVID is pure magical thinking.

@discoball2000 @Jekyll_V_Hyde @VictorianCHO No guesswork necessary: masks will come off once vaccination rates reach the level equal to other cohorts. Their motivations couldn’t be more transparent.

Would’ve been nice if there was a vaccine for under 5s before we decided to pretend the pandemic is over.

I think it's notable that case numbers have remained steady/slowly decreasing in Victoria, even with school return. We've invested a lot in multiple risk mitigations, including testing and ventilation, with masks as well. Good, if early, results.

JUST IN: the Victorian government is expanding rapid surveillance testing to early childhood settings for children aged 3 to 5 years old. The system will match what’s happening in schools - ie twice weekly tests. 1.6 million RATs to be made available to families @9NewsMelb

@mandakd @DrShaneRRR What difference would that make? Vax does not stop you contracting and transmitting the virus. My whole family is vaccinated and we all caught covid.

@JoshFrydenberg Give it two weeks and see how the “ mild” omicron goes on a rampage through the community, do you have thousands of teachers to fill the gap when the teachers get covid? Most kids are unvaccinated! Another LNP disaster on the way

School is back! Good luck to all the kids heading back into the classroom today. The last few years have been challenging for students, teachers & families, but may 2022 be less disruptive. 📸: My grade 1 school photo with a stylish skivvy & a little bit more hair…

Thoughts are with 92 more Australians who died in the past day due to #COVID19. Thoughts are also with the loved ones who grieve their loss. At some point, governments will have to acknowledge that their #LetItRip policy will not work, and aim for elimination.

@askinsdt @alcharalambous I know of 25 kids who currently have omricon including my own 3 and none are seriously unwell. Most are completely fine and only diagnosed as a family member tested positive so this statement is false

@alcharalambous Children do seem to be getting really quite poorly with covid, more so than we were told they would. Schools being kept open were/are huge issue for govt. that’s ok, as long as the reality was/is being faced up to. Sadly I’m my view commerce seems to be overriding safety of kids.

@luciecmz @alcharalambous Not true. All 3 of my kids got omricon and are fine. One of mine was hospitalised with gastro last year tho so I think we should lockdown until every child is vaccinated against gastro as my child got very sick.

@alcharalambous The general story of Omicron being mild, is valid only for adults, double vaxxed and boosted without any underlying conditions. I'm so sorry that your 6 years old friend suffers that much from COVID-19.
