Tens of thousands are being evacuated near Disneyland after officials warned a chemical tank at a California aerospace facility could explode in a catastrophic hazmat event. Crews are racing to cool the unstable tank as fears grow of a massive fireball and toxic release.

I’m continuing to monitor the evolving hazardous materials incident in Garden Grove and urge everyone to follow guidance from local officials, including evacuation protocols to safe areas. Yesterday, I spoke with the leadership at GKN and urged them to take full accountability for the panic and anxiety residents are experiencing across the region. I continue to call on FEMA and the EPA to provide immediate federal resources to assist with recovery operations.

@ABC7 The city of Garden Grove and the Orange County Healthcare Agency, who should be watching companies like this and definitely didn't, should also be sued into oblivion.

Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer says his office is launching an investigation into the chemical tank crisis in Garden Grove. The DA's office established an anonymous tip hotline to gather information on the circumstances of what led up to the incident and the quality and frequency of maintenance of the tanks at GKN Aerospace. There are six or seven cities involved, some cities have their cops protecting some homes, other cities do not. There is definitely looting going on in some spots. I hope the homeowners have good insurance.

Garden Grove chemical spill coverage. I was 15-20 feet away from the tank that was spilling gas. I was 15-20feet from death. Other parts of the video I was about 30-50 and 50-70 feet respectively from death.

HAPPENING NOW: GKN Aerospace facility. About 20+ fireman present in full fire gear with oxygen tanks. They asked me to put on all of my protective equipment to be there. But after I did, they said it was too dangerous and that they were planning to leave. I am leaving the area because it does seem that the situation is escalating.

(KABC) -- An urgent situation is unfolding in Garden Grove, where a chemical tank at the GKN Aerospace facility has been unstable for several days and is on a path to imminent failure. Authorities say it will likely either spill thousands of gallons of a highly toxic chemical or, even worse, explode if it fails. The "crisis situation" has forced 50,000 people out of their homes, leaving them wondering when this will all end. Some schools were also closed on Friday. The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) says a crew was able to see an internal temperature gauge, showing that the temperature has been rising about one degree per hour since Thursday morning. Now, authorities are preparing for the tank to fail, as well as talking to experts from across the country to find any alternative solutions.
