YouTube shorts make no sense. If a 44-second short with 84% swipe rate and 93% AVD can't break out of the 15k view range then idk what will

@CPreds_ @crosshair912 They already had the "shown in feed" metric, which they just renamed to "views". They don't count towards anything and have zero effect on the algorithm and earnings. It's really just smoke and mirrors

@crosshair912 It's not weird it's great. This will show you stats that better represent if people actually enjoy your content! Average Percentage Viewed / Swipe Rate didn't really tell the ENTIRE picture

I noticed a new YouTube update today for Shorts that shows "Stayed to Watch" versus "Swiped Away" -- this is a part of the new change that YouTube announced recently! You will now have TWO types of views, Engaged Views and Total Views. Excited to study this and have more stats to improve Shorts! @YouTubeCreators 🤝

@ItsSwitchup We hear you. As of 3/31/2025, Shorts views will count the number of times Short starts to play or replay with no minimum watch time requirement. This will help creators know how often their Shorts are seen. More info here: goo.gle/42k6K14 Hope this helps

This new YouTube shorts update is terrible, I hate the inflated views. It feels extremely superficial with no real benefits
