Most folks hyping this study don’t understand: 1. How steep a 16% include is. 2. How slow a 3mph “jog” is. Walking uphill can be great. It’s a good tool. But this is a pretty dumb comparison.
Massimo@Rainmaker1973

New research reveals that walking at 3 mph on a steep incline burns up to 70% more calories than running at the same speed on flat ground. Skip the joint-pounding stress of flat-ground sprints. Studies show that maintaining a steady 3 mph pace on a 16–18% incline actually outperforms traditional running in several key ways. The uphill effort recruits far more muscle fibers—especially in the glutes, hamstrings, quads, and core—as your body fights gravity with every step. This constant resistance dramatically raises the metabolic demand, pushing energy expenditure higher without the repetitive impact of jogging. Beyond the impressive calorie burn, incline walking delivers a superior cardiovascular workout. Your heart has to pump harder to supply oxygen to working muscles under increased gravitational load, which builds aerobic fitness more effectively than level walking. Interestingly, this approach also allows your body to tap into a higher percentage of fat as fuel compared to high-intensity flat running, all while being much gentler on knees, ankles, and hips. For anyone looking to maximize fat loss, boost endurance, and get better results with less wear and tear on the body, trading sprints for steep incline walking might be the smartest upgrade you can make in the gym. There’s nuance with sprinting and submax efforts (speed reserve). For 30 sec reps, I’d recommend ~95% rather than 100%. Save true max efforts for 6–8 sec sprints. Rest at least 5 min between 30 sec reps. Do a couple of build up reps, then 4–6 quality reps total.

@runliftrunlift How many reps do you recommend for 30 sec sprints?

20km loop this morning. I got a good reminder today of how you need to dress for the middle to end of the run, not the beginning. My trail winter top kept me warm when I walked outside, but I was overheated by the end. Lesson learned, again.

@ClimbingCoachX @brady_h I frequently see moderate intensity defined as 60-70% of max heart rate. A brisk walk or uphill would definitely get most people there. Regular paced walking I’m not so sure about. Do you see otherwise?

@brady_h I know it's probably talked about too much, but walking for 10 minutes works out to roughly 1,000+ steps. So anyone hitting 10k steps per day is active for 90-100 minutes.

@feelthebyrn1 @Alan_Couzens hey gents, I lactate tested a client the other day. Had a real hard time drawing enough blood with 28G lancets. We’re gonna do some long sets around AeT and spot check La. Do you suggest 26G? 22? Sewing needle?

@simoncase78 @trynablsh Is the minting automated? Just curious how this process is tracked somewhere and if it’s public?

@DerekGriffin86 So what's on the table for improving performance besides running? - heavy resistance training (supported with some outliers) - plyometrics (inconsistent but supported) - skipping (few studies) - hopping (1-2 studies) - boring old calf raises/loading (2? studies) - cross train??

Simple things done consistently can have important benefits. Just like the benefits of skipping for running performance. In a world of social media and elaborate, complex programs, simplicity always wins. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32163923/

$RENDER Price update ✍️ $RENDER has recovered perfectly from the EMAd 200, creating a higher low on the higher time frame. At the moment we are still in the buy zone, green lines, with the potential to retest liquidity at $6.60! In the event of a market reversal, the first major resistance will be the FIB 0.618 at $8.20. If $RENDER manages to break USD 8.20, we can focus on the higher time resistance at USD 10.30 Until then, you can just buy the dips and wait for a market turnaround.

The most common reasons adults choose to have shoulder surgery are the pain at night and the loss of sleep. Otherwise, for the most part, most will tolerate the daytime discomfort reasonably well.
