Reality isn’t as fixed as it once felt. 🥀
Over the past few months, I’ve been sharing experiments with splats, spatial interaction, and blended realities. Now, those experiments—and much more—are starting to converge into something we’ve been building at @Jadu_AR .
On April 24th in Los Angeles, we’ll share a first glimpse.
We’re calling the event: In Loving Memory of Reality.
Dramatic? Maybe. But these are strange times. The line between what’s real and what’s generated, captured, or simulated is starting to blur. We’re moving away from interfaces on screens and toward interaction with reality itself.
This is our first public moment exploring those questions—and a look at our broader direction around spatial interaction.
I’ll be there (and around LA for a few days). If you want to come by, chat, try what we're building, or just grab a taco 🌮 (yes, there will be tacos) and a drink, let me know!
Long live reality.

What happens if you try to push and squash a Gaussian splat? :)
Been playing with adding simplified deformation and a lightweight physics simulation layer to Gaussian splats, running directly in real time on mobile.
Instead of simulating every splat, this uses a small CPU lattice to drive the deformation, plus a per-splat transform so they actually stretch and compress properly.
No mesh conversion, no retraining. Just layered on top of the renderer.
You can push, bend, squash a scan and it holds together surprisingly well...
Still early, but I can see the potential in making splats feel more real, from static captures to something more tactile, something you can touch, throw, bounce around… or well just fold and squash on the floor :)

Been experimenting with procedural locomotion on #GaussianSplat environments from @theworldlabs .
Built a little multi-legged robot in Unity that raycasts against the splat data to figure out where to place its feet, no meshes or colliders involved... Pretty fun to climb surfaces, walk on walls, and set a weird number of legs on the fly :)
Still rough around the edges but pretty fun to watch it figure things out.

Developing new optimizations and effects for #GaussianSplats for real-time AR experiences, I went back to get inspiration from one of my favorite films, Blade Runner, and experimented with turning a few iconic moments into splats using Apple ML Sharp.

I had just graduated college when I was introduced to Niko @bonatsos .
I was surprised at how quickly he got on a call with an international student, given how high-profile an investor he was. He politely told me I wasn’t ready to raise, but the way he said it made it seem like I might be one day.
Every few months, I’d send him updates. He would always reply quickly, always saying no, but in the most encouraging way possible. A few years later, the time finally came, and @generalcatalyst led @Jadu_AR's seed round.
We still have much to prove, but it’s been a real honor having Niko as a supporter. He has a rare ability to distill complex situations into simple fundamentals, and an intuition that can see beyond surface-level signals.
Extremely eager for what he's up to next.

The @Jadu_AR heads doing some incredible building here! Can‘t wait to try all this out 🔥

Unfortunately AR headsets with Snapdragon AR1 chips simply don't have enough compute to do more than record, playback and notifications. Feeding that into an LLM does not fix the AR. Sticking to my clearly unpopular opinion: the first actually ubiquitous spatial computing platform is a phone.

For the last decade, in the corniest most sincere way, I've believed that AR is the ultimate medium.
The fundamentals that form it: physics, space & presence are fully possible on phones.
We've not seen them fully expressed yet because 40% of mobile CPU/GPU is spent just running the camera and calculating planes.
This year @Jadu_AR built a technical foundation that opens up the full dynamic range of immersion. This video shows a large persistent world fully rendered in one AR scene, with multiple cameras seamlessly blending in and out of reality without any loading screens.
I'm in awe of all the things we can and will do in 2026.

Wait. Is this still AR?

Always cool to see @Jadu_AR team advance AR stuff! Can‘t wait for lightweight AR glasses in the future with high display fidelity (it has to happen one day… right?)
Then imagine this! Peak experience. Hope Jadu can stay around for a long time 🤞
