I genuinely don’t understand how a normal person could look at this scandal and not get angry. Private companies are profiting massively from our most vulnerable children, by hugely overcharging our communities. It’s the most disgustingly exploitative of all privatisations.
Financial Times@FT
Providers charge the state an average of £384,020 per child per year, a huge rise from a decade ago. That is multiple times the cost of the country’s most prestigious boarding schools such as Eton College and of its young offenders institutions. ft.trib.al/tGiZ9z0

Since the Supreme Court ruling, and now the EHRC draft Code of Practice, the response from too many self-described progressives has been revealing.
Instead of defending women’s sex-based rights, they attack the feminists who do.
Instead of recognising the words woman, female, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, as the language of material reality, they insist on reducing women to “cis women”, as though women are merely a subset of their own sex.
These are the handmaidens of an ideology that asks women to participate in their own erasure. They call it inclusion. They call it kindness. They call it progress. But there is nothing progressive about stripping women of the words, boundaries and legal protections through which their oppression is understood and their safety defended.
Women are not an identity group within their own sex. They are the sex. Their rights are not conditional on the feelings of men, and their spaces are not bigotry made concrete.
Reem Alsalem, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls, stood before the Human Rights Council and delivered a statement that would have been entirely unremarkable in any previous decade, but which now carried the weight of something almost heretical.
She said that erasing women and women-specific language based on their sex is not only wrong, but demeaning, regressive, and constitutes one of the worst forms of violence that women and girls can experience.
She went further. She told the assembled representatives of the world’s nations that she had never imagined she would need to write a report simply to establish that women and girls are biological and legal categories defined by sex, and that sex is central to understanding discrimination and violence against them.
Read that again. A United Nations official had to formally argue, in 2025, that women exist as a biological category. She warned that erasing sex-based language weakens protections for motherhood, produces flawed data, undermines services for victims, obscures violence against women, and makes it harder to protect girls.
She closed with a line that deserves to be inscribed somewhere prominent:
“You cannot protect what you cannot define.”

WOMEN COUNT! If we can’t count the number of women MSPs for fear of offence, what is to stop society counting the female survivors of abuse. Me in @TheScotsman (link in replies)

The most dystopian part of AI isn’t the technology itself.
It’s the sheer amount of electricity and water being burned so corporations can automate things nobody asked to automate.
Entire rivers diverted so an app can generate “funny medieval Breaking Bad images.”
So LinkedIn users can produce motivational posts written in the tone of a traumatized flight attendant.
We are constructing cathedrals of computation to eliminate the burden of having an original thought.
And they keep selling this as progress.
Meanwhile the actual physical world decays.
Bridges collapse.
Cities rot.
Public transit looks post-apocalyptic.
Young people can’t afford houses.
But thank God the machine can generate 9,000 fake podcast clips per second.
Civilizations used to build aqueducts and railways.
Now we build data centers.

This is outrageous.
A small town in Michigan did everything right to stop OpenAI & Oracle from building a $16 billion data center in their town.
The people of Saline Township flooded their council meeting, put up signs all over town, and convinced their officials to reject it.
The officials voted against the data center 4-1, and that should have been the end. But two days later the developers sued, and the town couldn’t afford to fight back in court.
We are not a free nation when billion-dollar corporations can take over the land of our communities and towns. We are a captive nation ruled by corporations and billionaires.

Economic paralysis taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2026/05/2… Households know the UK economy is in a mess. They're cutting their spending to match. The problem is going to be that our politicians will want to do the same - and that's the wrong answer right now.

To all the terribly sad transvestites the UK media are really concerned with tonight, let me just say this. Advise them that coming for English women is an grievous error, but coming for Scottish women is foolish beyond compare.

Former CIA Officer Philip Agee explains why the US🇺🇸 has been waging economic warfare on Cuba🇨🇺 for decades and trying to strangle & overthrow the socialist system:
‘They know that if the Cubans are successful of their example in being able to provide, as a poor country, the best medical care in the third world…it’s a very bad example for the United States.
There is a large mass of people in the US who can look to Cuba and say ‘wow if they can do it on a per capita income of $2K—2.5K, where ours is $22,500 a year, what’s wrong with our system? Maybe we ought to consider an alternative.’ That’s why Sandinista Nicaragua had to be destroyed, that’s why Grenada had to be destroyed.
Because any movement that comes to power with the idea of providing for all the people and escaping the control of the US and its economy, that is bad news for the United States and among the upper circles of power and influence.’
