Yesterday, my opponent did something disgraceful. He disrespected every single parent in this country. While the House passed a simple bill requiring public schools to notify parents before changing a child’s pronouns, preferred name, or bathroom access at school… Seth Magaziner voted no. The bill was simple. If a public school wants to make these decisions involving your child, parents should be informed. That's it. It passed 217 to 198. Eight Democrats broke with their party and voted yes because even they understood something basic: Parents have the right to know what is happening with their own children. Your child. Your family. Your decision. Not the school's. Not the government's. Rhode Island already has some of the most progressive gender policies in the country. Parents have found out after the fact that their children had been encouraged toward gender transition without their knowledge or consent. That is wrong. Seth Magaziner had a chance to stand with Rhode Island parents. He chose not to. I will always fight to put parents first. @TheStonesEG There no checks and balances. I am not an expert with this stuff but I thought the bond and the state funds would pay for the schools and didn’t anticipate such a large proposed tax increase. Elderly people should not have to pay property taxes either! Let’s lower not raise taxes
