My 8-year-old student successfully applied absolute pins, relative pins, and pin escapes in a real game today after learning them through puzzles.
The game lasted 83 moves… and he eventually defeated me. Growth like this is always beautiful to see.

A passed pawn is a pawn with no enemy pawn blocking its path to promotion.
Passed pawns become extremely dangerous in the endgame.

* How all the pieces move
* Basic opening principles
* Checkmate patterns
* Simple tactics (forks, pins, skewers)
However,he would still be at the beginners level for that period of time

For classical, I find it very difficult to concentrate on a particular thing for a long time.

The center squares in chess are:
e4, d4, e5, and d5. I.e THE MIDDLE OF THE CHESS BOARD
Players fight for these squares because controlling the center gives your pieces more freedom and activity.

@Johnonabote Underpromotions and queenside castles are often unknown to some casual players. As is the rule that you can't castle through a check, which I have used to commit the only acts of cheating in chess in my life lol. I usually admitted it later and told them the rule.
