This weekend I made a trip up to Saint Louis to see the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo. One of my goals is to try to attend an airshow that I’ve never seen before each year. This was my first time at the Saint Louis show.

@ByronYork One of the reasons why trust in media is so low is because many legacy journalists are completely out of touch. You could not get away with that behavior at any run of the mill job. It is revealing to see how blind some are to that.

Maybe it will leak, or the sealant will dissolve, or the dark color will heat up the water too much -- this is government work after all. But the most common lib objection was that it would no longer reflect. I think this is based on the false belief that the first coat, a light blue, would be the final color -- which is an instance of another TDS genre, pretending that a work-in-progress is the final product.

Once the pool is filled up and it’s clear to everyone that it (1) reflects much better, (2) is much cleaner, and (3) is not the color of a swimming pool, everyone who was mad about this is going to pivot to saying they now hate it because there’s no difference. Calling it now.

@AlexanderPayton To keep the water crystal clear, they use ozone treatment instead of chlorine — no chemical smell, and it kills bacteria without leaving residue. The pool also has a new filtration system that cycles the water every couple days. Pretty slick upgrade from the old setup.
