Texas allowed a 5 star with pending domestic violence charges to play 38 games in the 2022-23 basketball season. I’m sure you weren’t in favor of opponents boycotting those games, right?
The Tunnel Longhorns@TheTunnel_Texas

I'm not kidding when I say this, the teams on Texas Tech's schedule should agree to refuse to play against them if Brendan Sorsby is going to play. Find a legal loophole to get out of the game, get a local judge to grant some kind of injuction, forfeit the game, idc man this is a threat to the sport.

@GaryParrishCBS My biggest issue with the entire situation is that the NCAA caused this. They let a coach who bet on his own team off with a 10 game penalty. They allow drug & alcohol addicts to play if they seek help, but not gamblers. This was inevitable because they haven't been consistent.

@Juz_10 Like I said, the judge's address would've been on a Texas Tech message board hours ago if he'd ruled a different way. It's much easier for his life to just rule the way he ruled. Suggesting otherwise is obviously dumb/gullible/stupid.

I usually like it when the NCAA loses in court. But today felt different. We all decided a long time ago that gambling on the sport you play should be a career-ender. But Brendan Sorsby, some great lawyers and a judge facing community pressure just said otherwise. Not great.

@jeremysports @byBDavis Ok, fair. My point is that people are blaming Tech for this. All Tech did was appeal the NCAA decision (like every other school does every time) and that appeal was denied. Case closed. Sorsby then filed the injunction against the NCAA, NOT Tech. FWIW, I disagree with the ruling.

@Juz_10 @byBDavis I didn’t say that Tech cheated or circumvented anything. I simply said that if a bottom of the roster guy did the same thing, they would not be making all these statements and publicly advocating for his eligibility.

@brettachapman @Eddie_Rado The butthurt heard round the country. My God, for a bunch or journalists and lawyers, ya'll are some of the dumbest morons around. NOT from Lubbock, he's from Tarrant County (Ft Worth). But facts don't matter I guess. Whatever you have to make up to frame your narrative.

@Eddie_Rado It’s a total joke. There’s so much money, local political pressure, and influence involved with this issue and these local yokel state courts that it’s a mockery of the justice system 9 times out of 10 on these eligibility suits.

@lackmeftwich806 @brettachapman @Eddie_Rado Facts don't matter to these dimwits. They don't care that Tech had nothing to do with this case, this was Sorsby (not TTU) vs the NCAA. They make up lies to fit a narrative and then "don't care" when you present facts. Well, guess what? I don't care about their opinions either.

@jeremysports @byBDavis Sorsby sued the NCAA, Tech did not. Stop saying Tech cheated or Tech circumvented the system, etc. No, they didn't. Sorsby filed the lawsuit. Yes, Tech had skin in the game, but they were not involved in an way, shape or form in this ruling.

@byBDavis If the backup punter at Tech did all the same things that Sorsby has, would they be going to the same lengths to keep him eligible? No, he would’ve been cut and they’d move on and we probably wouldn’t even know about it.

@byBDavis I love everyone that's throwing stones at Tech on this decision. This was Sorsby vs the NCAA, NOT Texas Tech vs the NCAA. Plus, the original judge was a Tech grad who recused himself, as he should. Get mad at U of H, it's their laws cool grad rhat made rhe decision!

@csconine @PaulCatalina Also, if gambling is an addiction like drugs or alcohol (by NCAA standards), why is admitting to an addiction forgiven unless it's gambling? That's what Sorsby's defense team is gonna argue on June 1.

He crossed the Rubicon with what he did. Sucks for Tech. But this is not like NIL or transfer rules. The gambling rules are clear. They have always been clear. Across the board in all levels of sport. Sorsby is no different because of the levels of his bets.

BREAKING: The NCAA has denied Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby’s request for reinstatement for eligibility during the 2026 season, per @PeteThamel. Sorsby has completed his 35-day inpatient rehab for his gambling addiction at a treatment center in Arizona.

@JaredSandler At what point does management give up and start trading what little offensive talent we have off for draft picks? This team has lots of good parts, but the sum is ridiculously awful

Rangers fall to the Angels. Angels secure a series win. Rangers will have a losing road trip. Definitely disappointing to drop these two with two studs on the hill. Missed chances tonight with 11 LOB. Postgame coming up

Man, it appears the double whammy of Texas privilege plus an injection of it “just means more” has gotten well into Sark’s bloodstream. I called plenty of @Big12Conference games the last few years and while no one is arguing that the @SEC may still be ahead top to bottom, the suggestion the Horns who lost to Florida, and can we talk about Kentucky could beat the guys in Lubbock with “our 2’s and 3’s” is preposterous. If Bill Little were alive he’d be on the phone saying, “Steve please dial it back?”

Shots fired at Texas Tech? Texas' Steve Sarkisian via @AnwarRichardson: "There's a team in our state in another conference w/a schedule that I would argue if I played w/our 2's & 3's we could go undefeated & they’ll probably make the CFP this year” 💀 on3.com/college/texas-…
