@Catholic_bro This is actually in York, PA. In the background on the right side of the first picture is another Catholic Church, St. Mary’s, about 2 blocks away. St Pat’s was initially a predominantly Irish immigrant congregation and St. Mary’s was German.

@VictoriaTheTech Seeing my 2nd grader learn and grow is a joy. He’s an individual with different interests and strengths, so of course he will learn things I don’t know. It’s fun to learn with him too. I can’t imagine seeing that and thinking that I need to put a limit on what he can know.

@LauraRbnsn @CherieEd Being intelligent and/or educated also doesn’t automatically confer teaching skills. Knowing how to read is very different from teaching a child to read, which requires development of several different skills. Hubris may have prevented them from recognizing this.

@CherieEd Could be a lot of things. Sometimes people have a hard time modulating between kids who teach themselves well and kids who need a lot of intervention. Sometimes mom is burned out and doesn’t teach the kids at all. Sometimes the child has an undiagnosed disability.

I know homeschool families that do a great job but the weirdest thing about “I don’t need to be educated because my job is to homeschool my kids” is that it literally can’t last more than one generation and most families who do this already burned it up.

@robfrawley @d_feldman He couldn’t be bothered to write even a few paragraphs without relying almost entirely on AI. When he was called out he tried to use a paraphrasing tool, which made it complete gibberish. We threw out everything he had “written” because it would have taken more time to fix.

@robfrawley @d_feldman We spent weeks developing the research concept and our work plan, which he didn’t participate in. Then each of us spent days writing the paper sections and helping to review them before submission. He did an hour or so of “work” and tried to claim that he contributed.

What pages guy, this is a discussion board. He AI-generated all of his responses to other people’s posts too.
