Aryna sabalenka “cakewalk draw” So Aryna got a “cakewalk draw”, to be fair, at this point how would you make it harder? In the round of 16 she got Osaka who gave her fits at Madrid, I’m not worried about her, but on paper it’s tough In the QFs she’s projected to get Jessica Pegula, tho it’s her worst slam & it would be much tougher opponent on HC In the SFs it would be coco Gauff who is in much better form than Iga is right now, or it’s Amanda Anisimova who is the 2nd player I have any worries about if she is in form, in fact last year she was Aryna Sabalenkas toughest opponent at RG in the round of 16 I wrote last week that I WANTED Baptiste in the round of 32, Kostyuk in the round of 16 and Svitolina in the QFs Trust me all 3 matches would be so uncompetitive Last year Aryna had Anisimova in the round of 16, Zheng in the QFs (won Olympic gold year prior on that court), & Iga in the SFs (the same Iga who won Wimbledon a month later), on paper that’s as tough a draw you can get, and Aryna went thru it with ease Unfortunately she thought that after beating Iga in the SFs the final was “perfunctory” and she had a meltdown when things got tough with the weather and Coco Gauffs junk balls and imploded in the final

🎾 WTA pre RG 2025 thoughts, I’d like to hear your feedback Some thoughts on Elena Rybakina after her surprising loss to Elina Svitolina in the Rome QFs. I will post more about the other players, specifically Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek & Coco Gauff after we finish the Rome Masters Honestly yesterday’s performance by Elena was very disappointing. It wasn’t like she was nearly as bad as she was vs Potapova, but it was more of how unclutch she was It was very reminiscent of 2024 & 2025 Elena Rybakina where she had these “mental blocks” where she simply failed time and time again to make clutch shots & it wasn’t like her level was overall so poor, it was more about the situation I’m NOT saying that she will go back to being that kind of unclutch player, I was saying that this is what I saw I don’t hate Elena at all, contrary to what some people think I originally was an Elena fan, i actually got very disillusioned by her precisely because of these kinds of losses x.com/nosmh_x/status… and seeing her the past half year as the best player in the world (first graphic is points post 2025 Wimbledon, Elena won 2 of the 3 biggest tournaments since then) wasn’t something i ever thought id see Anyways the loss was a big hit to her chase for the world number 1, as an Aryna fan I thought she would win Rome and would be 470 points behind in the live rankings, now she will need to win one of the channel slams and at least make the SFs of the other to get to number 1, assuming Aryna does what she usually does at slams

🎾 WTA Top 10 players as of right now, my personal list, I’d love to hear your feedback in the comments TOP tier: 1. Aryna Sabalenka, self explanatory 2. Elena Rybakina, more like a 1A than 2, clear 2nd best player since post Wimbledon last year, you can even make the case for her at number 1 Next tier, BIG drop off 3. Jessica Pegula, incredible consistency, just keeps on coming up short vs Aryna & Elena Since last years US open, she’s been the clear 3rd best player, 39-9 in 10 tournaments, QFs or better, just is 1-6 vs Aryna & Elena 4. Coco Gauff, very inconsistent, but she still has the game to beat most players A bit lower on this tier, more unknown 5. Iga Swiatek, this is the lowest I’ve had her since I started, but she still has the pedigree, even tho at the current moment I don’t have any confidence in her beating anyone semi good 6. Amanda Anisimova, also in transition right now, not nearly the player she was the 2nd half of last year. Also will get a new coach, I don’t expect much for her on the clay as her game is more power based and not as much on movement which is her biggest weakness 3rd tier 7 & 8. Karolina Muchova & Victoria Mboko, Muchova beat Mboko twice this year, so that’s why I have her 7th, but to me Mboko has more of a shot at actually beating the TOP players which I don’t see Muchova having a shot at 9 Elina Svitolina 10 Belinda Bencic I’d like to hear what your top 10 players are in order, please reply with your lists 1st graphic is points post Wimbledon, tho add on 500 points for Pegula for Charleston 2nd is from @PatrickDing0915 who chronicles @AlGruskin monthly rankings 3rd is from the incomparable @TennisUpdates26 4th is from Wikipedia of the current WTA rankings, we are up to the “MA” on the WTA 1000 part

Alright. Rickey Henderson is at third base. One out. Tie game. Bottom of the 9th. You’re the fielding team. DEEP fly ball to right field. Who do you want as your right fielder?

@AthleteSwag Not even the greatest shot ever at the Masters. '87 Masters chip-in by Mize easily trumps this one.

@moonmarket You do realize QUCY is not a quantum play, right? Is there any evidence to support them having any quantum operations? Just asking for clarity.

@Cam_Jourdan Chris had a tough weekend, particularly the third round, but had a good tournament. Congrats to Aaron Rai. He played extremely well and deserved it. Great to see LIV players like Rahm and Cam Smith back in contention. Perhaps the haters like Brandel and Eamon can lay off.

Scottie Scheffler called Friday's pin locations at the PGA Championship "kind of absurd." "This is the hardest set of pin locations that I've seen since I've been on Tour, and that includes U.S. Opens, that includes Oakmont. I did ask, I asked Fooch, who caddies for Justin Rose. He's been around a long time -- and I asked Teddy too -- have you seen anything like this before? They said maybe Shinnecock is the only place they have seen that has pins that could compare to this."

Chris Gotterup was asked whether the setup at Aronimink was "unfair." Gave a great answer. "So is it unfair, probably not. But is it going to make the round slow, yeah. "I don't think it's unfair by any stretch of the imagination, but you're not going to get any 4-1/2 hour rounds out here if that's what they, if that's what's going to happen. So, unfair, no, but, you know, tough to make birdies."

@moonmarket I've had direct conversations with Todd in the past. He tells a good story, but his actions have almost always been destructive to shareholder value. Caveat emptor.
