Through this time he continued his interest in space and even though his family was not able to afford a telescope for Clyde, he didn’t let that stop him. Using scrap metal, mirrors, lenses, and discarded farm machinery parts he created his own telescope (pictured below). Using his new telescope he made sketches of the planets including Jupiter and Mars which he sent to the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. They promptly offered him a job and he began work there in 1929. It was there that he would make the pinnacle discovery of his career and leave his mark on the field of astronomy forever.

Remember on August 4th vote No on the amendment question. We need our courts to remain as apolitical as possible, not be corrupted by campaigning and bribery like @TyMastersonKS .

I am an immigrant. I became a citizen. I was elected to Congress. And I will never stop fighting for every person who came to this country chasing something better. Right now, families in our district and across this country are living in terror. Children are going to school not knowing if their parents will be there when they get home. This is not immigration enforcement. This is a deliberate campaign of fear and punishment targeting communities of color. And we will not accept it.

What a beautiful afternoon to attend the festival on the square in Garnett 🌞. This morning I was at the Sunflower Club meeting, delivered yard signs in Overland Park and Prairie Village and then drove down to Garnett!!

@RepDavids You didn't seem too concerned in 2024 when sirens didn't go off before a tornado hit Prairie Village.

"Overland Park officials are considering a complete overhaul to the city’s zoning code that would eliminate single-family-only districts and rezone all 76 square miles of the city under a new “character-based” framework." We are currently looking at moving from 33 zoning districts to 11 to add flexibility and predictability to our development process. Spent my afternoon serving on the selection committee for what I consider one of the City’s most important projects this year - the OP Transportation Plan. The study will tell us the best candidate corridors for road diets and multimodal improvements. Very excited to get this project going and see what safety improvements we can make to our streets!
