I would like to congratulate the National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea, led by National Security Adviser Sec. Eduardo Año, for its whole of nation approach in significantly raising awareness among Filipino voters about the importance of supporting candidates who advocate for the Philippines' sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea. This is particularly crucial in distinguishing them from candidates who remain silent or, worse, support China's position. We have made remarkable progress, increasing from 7 out of 10 Filipinos to 8 out of 10 who refuse to back any pro-China candidates. I am optimistic that the upcoming May elections will serve as a litmus test, showcasing the true patriotism of the Filipino people in ensuring that our fight for the West Philippine Sea is sustained for future generations.

39 years ago, we exemplified before the world what People Power means.
Armed with prayers, songs, and courage, the Filipino people brought down the Marcos dictatorship and ushered in a new age for freedom and democracy.
Let history be our lesson.

Thomasian activists gather in front of the Arch of the Centuries on Tuesday, Feb. 25, to commemorate the 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, the uprising that toppled the two-decade Marcos Sr. dictatorship. Several schools have suspended classes today. In contrast, President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., the dictator’s son, has declared the EDSA anniversary a ‘special working day.’

I am not sure what motivated Jay Sonza to reemerge, but it seems he is reacting to my call for Filipinos to avoid voting for any pro-China candidates, implying that I am campaigning for the administration’s candidates.
To clarify, my message was for the Filipino people to be more discerning in selecting their candidates in the upcoming election. It is important to choose politicians who would not jeopardize our fight in the West Philippine Sea and who will support the annual budgets of the AFP, PCG, and BFAR for operational needs and capability development to sustain our fight.
Let me be clear: I am not endorsing any specific candidate. Instead, I am urging Filipino voters to elect legislators who support our fight, regardless of their party affiliation. It is imperative to evaluate candidates carefully to ensure they are not pro-China. Ultimately, I am asking them to prioritize our country in their choices. Ang boto natin ay para sa kinabukasan ng mga kabataang Pilipino, piliin natin ang Pilipinas!
