In a document released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the agency is setting specific directions for the development of Web3, focusing on important areas such as governance and industry. The central government emphasizes "encouraging exploration of new business models such as NFTs and decentralized applications (dApps), accelerating creative applications, and building a digital ecosystem for Web 3.0." Additionally, the Ministry also reveals plans to pilot programs related to decentralized digital identification to explore authentication and management of digital identities (DID) on Web3. The support of the central government for the development of #Web3 comes after some local authorities in China committed to developing the metaverse industry in 2024-2025: - The government of Shandong province plans to achieve a market scale of up to 150 billion yuan (20.5 billion USD) by 2025. - Sichuan province has also announced a draft action plan to expand its metaverse industry and achieve a market scale of 34.4 billion USD by 2025. Despite China's ban on cryptocurrency trading since September 2021, NFT trading in the country is unaffected. In fact, the government has even launched a blockchain network providing decentralized identification services called China RealDID to protect personal data, allowing users to register or log in to commercial websites with their DID address and private key. Therefore, Chinese citizens remain optimistic about domestic blockchain technology and the digital economy, as evidenced by Chinese courts classifying crypto as legal assets and technology giants like Alibaba, Tencent, and Huawei focusing on developing their own blockchain technology. Furthermore, the Chinese government is seeking to position Beijing as the global innovation center for the digital economy through the release of a whitepaper in May 2023."

Trezor cold wallet adds Solana (SOL) support Trezor, the manufacturer of Web3 hardware wallets, has added support for the Solana token standard to its Model T and Safe 3 wallet versions. According to the announcement on X, Trezor currently supports native SOL tokens and Solana's #SPL token standard on two wallet versions Model T and Safe 3. Trezor Safe 3 costs 79 USD, while Model T is "slightly" better with an interface screen sold for 179 USD. Both support more than 8,000 coins, and allow users to send, receive and trade these coins. Trezor's support announcement appeared right after the news that #SOL reached a new peak of the year at 87 USD and rose to become the top 5 largest cryptocurrencies on the morning of December 21. SOL has increased from the price threshold of 20 USD since the beginning of October, equivalent to an increase rate of nearly 300% and has become the most active altcoin in the market in the recent rising wave.
