🇺🇸🇮🇱🇮🇷 Trump publicly told Netanyahu to stand down... “I call the shots. I call ALL the shots” That's the entire story and there are 2 ways to read what happened. Both are disturbing 1st: Netanyahu is running his own war and always has been. Trump's phone calls are diplomatic theater that Israel factors in and then ignores when its strategic interests diverge. The "I call the shots" statement was made to an audience in Tehran and Washington, not Jerusalem. 2nd: Netanyahu and Trump coordinated this privately. Trump's public "stand down" statement gave Washington plausible deniability on the diplomatic track while Israel executed the strike both sides wanted but Trump couldn't be seen ordering. Iran gets hit, Trump gets to keep talking, and nobody in the room is surprised. The problem with the 2nd read is that it assumes a level of operational coordination that today's chaos doesn't support. The 1st read is messier but more consistent with the pattern across 4 months of this war. Who actually controls who in this relationship? 🇮🇷🇮🇱 What just changed tonight?
This is the first time Iran has struck Israel in response to an Israeli strike on a 3rd country. Not Iran itself, but Lebanon.
The significance is structural. Iran's deterrence used to mean: strike Iran and Iran strikes back. Tonight it expanded to: strike Lebanon and Iran strikes back.
That's a fundamentally different equation. One that extends Iranian hard power as a check on Israeli military action across the entire region, not just over Iranian territory.
For decades Israel has operated with near-impunity because no regional power had both the capability and willingness to impose real costs on its military actions abroad.
If that equation has genuinely shifted, every conflict in the region, including Palestine, has a new variable in it that wasn't there yesterday.
If you still thought Israel is calling the shots think again.

It's the same plan Fidel Castro wrote after the Bay of Pigs in 1961, arm the whole island and bleed any invader dry in a long guerrilla fight.
The catch is the hardware, troops drilling on Soviet rifles older than they are and towing an anti-aircraft gun with oxen, 60 years of embargo having hollowed the army out.
What's different now is the threat actually looks real, with Trump calling regime change a matter of time, an oil embargo since January, and the carrier Nimitz parked offshore, the same setup that ended with U.S forces snatching Maduro next door.
