Utah mom against data centers and corruption in the government

Axios reported today on some fresh polling on AI policy, and the results might surprise you if you're seeing a lot of doom-and-gloom anti-AI sentiment. I really liked this question, which is more nuanced than lots of the stuff out there (side note: reminded me of the 'political tribes' surveys done by @PatrickRuffini and @KSoltisAnderson) The question lets people put themselves into one of four AI-policy camps spanning the policy spectrum, from maximum libertarian anti-regulation all the way to the "Stop" or "Pause AI" teams. The most popular position - a 41% plurality - is that the government needs "basic safety" standards that keep American companies competitive. This "basic safety" stance is more popular than "strict regulations" and much more popular than "slowing down or stopping AI". And "basic safety" plus "mostly stay out of the way" forms a majority pro-innovation coalition of 56%. The discourse on X is heavily tilted towards the latter two camps, I would say. Most of the AI policy voices on here are definitely in the "strict regulations" or "stop or pause" camps. And while they sound loud on X, it's important to realize they are NOT a majority -- even with their positions combined.

An alien who is in the U.S. temporarily and wants a Green Card must return to their home country to apply. This policy allows our immigration system to function as the law intended instead of incentivizing loopholes. The era of abusing our nation’s immigration system is over.

SICKENING: AOC Just showed off the Georgia drinking water from Meta's AI Data Centers. Thank you @AOC: "This is the current drinking water in Morgan County, Georgia. Right after a data center was constructed, the metadata center was constructed, the only difference between the clean water and this was that data center. I have another one as well. So this wasn't just one well, these wasn't just one family's situation. This is what the drinking water now looks like next to that data center. And I think both of us can agree that neither one of these things are drinkable. These families now have to ship, in a rural area, have to ship water to their house in order to cook and bathe themselves."

🇸🇪 In Sweden, a sudden surge in incidents has been observed involving bacon placed between the pages of the Quran as well as in prayer mats within universities. Thoughts?

Just unenrolled from the Republican Party. Enjoy the mid terms.

HOLY SH*T. The man who invaded the female locker room at @PlanetFitness has reportedly been identified as Christopher Beaulieu, a REGISTERED CHILD SEX OFFENDER. Christopher was previously convicted of felonious s*xual assault of a MINOR. After gymgoer Judy Walcott reported his presence in the female locker room to staff, Planet Fitness CANCELED her membership due to "transphobia." Any comment @PlanetFitness?

The main stream news is failing to do their job, so here is the bigger picture on this story out of NH. The man pretending to be a woman hanging out in women and children's private spaces is Christopher Beaulieu. He was previously convicted of felonious sexual assault (victim was a minor). So the thing they say never happens is absolutely happening. He also hangs out at Chuck E Cheese in Manchester. Judy Walcott was getting ready to use the bathroom in the women’s locker room at the Concord Planet Fitness when she saw Christopher hanging up belongings outside a shower. Understandably she was very uncomfortable and scared (I know this feeling because men use our restrooms in the State House too), so she went to the front desk and reported it. The employees ignored it. A few days later, she reported it to another employee who called her “transphobic” and told her to quit if she didn’t like it. A few hours later, the assistant manager called her and canceled the membership. They forged her signature on the cancelation too. This smells like a lawsuit waiting to happen. So a woman was punished for being frightened in her private space, and the man is still hanging out freely in there. @KellyAyotte help! @libsoftiktok
