@BethMooreLPM I worship in the Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod), and we recognize birthdays, baptisms, anniversaries, deaths -- all of it -- every week during prayer. I love it! I also love it when they call all the children forward each week for a mini-lesson before the homily. Precious!

A thing I really love at our church is that there’s a time in the service after the sermon and before the elements that anyone having a birthday or any couple an anniversary can come forward for a blessing over their coming year. The whole congregation says the prayer in unison.

@gpackiam @carmenjoyimes On a side note, I wonder if fewer older members attend now because of the modern worship space. I’m 47 and grew up with hymns and a few praise songs here and there. My mother cannot find her way any longer in a modern context. It hurts her ears, eyes, and head.

What it should have said is, of church-going adults, Gen Z attends most frequently. Barna’s wording: “ For the first time in decades, younger adults—Gen Z and Millennials—are now the most regular churchgoers, outpacing older generations, who once formed the backbone of church attendance.”
