A fire and explosion injured more than 30 people and killed one person at a Staten Island shipyard, officials said Friday.
The explosion happened after first responders arrived to battle a fire in the basement of a 150-by-150-foot metal building near the shipping docks.
The injured include civilians and first responders. One fire marshal is in critical condition, Mayor Mamdani said.
