Slowly building my own Fantasy world in Unreal I don't know when I'm going to have the chance to work on an African inspired game.

Sincitium is finally here. We are pleased to present our latest piece: a concept trailer created specifically for the @runwayml Big Pitch Contest. For this project, we wanted to explore a completely different aesthetic from our usual studio style, and this film is the result of that experimentation. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed the creative process. Produced by: Contanimation Directed by: Javier De La Chica and Guillermo Miranda Art Direction: Javier De La Chica Editing: Guillermo Miranda Voices: Juan Rabadán #runwaybigpitchcontest

The construction of a baghala with an ornately carved stern, careened on a Zanzibar beach. The baghala was introduced to the Swahili Coast by Arabs, though exactly when this occurred remains controversial. Its adoption by the local population does not mean there were no indigenous sailing vessels; in fact, there were many types which I’ll share later even more beautiful then the Baghala, the most famous being the Swahili mtepe. The baghala was much larger, which made the mass transport of enslaved Africans in far greater numbers possible during the Indian Ocean trade when Omani Arabs ruled Zanzibar . Thought I would share a little preview to my short story about Ewuare the Great, who expanded the Edo Empire in the 1400s (I’ll be using Seedance 2.0 and Kling 3.0) I’ll stick to the mythical version rather than the more historically grounded one. I think the mythological version is more epic because it says he dived into the ocean to the palace of Olokun, the god of water and prosperity. He allegedly stole the god’s spiritually charged coral regalia to bring back to his people. Overall, though, the clothing, architecture, and details will be historically grounded in Edo-Benin culture and tradition.

I am currently pivoting from being a freelance Animator to running an Animation production company full-time, with the main focus on IP development for brands, existing companies, and creative brands, whilst pushing the limits of African animation production...we have the talent, we just need structure. That is my main role moving forward as the Creative Director & lead Animator at BlackPhoenix Studios. IP development is a major hub, especially in this modern age. Original stories are gaining more ground, and brands now have identities that people associate with. Over the past few years, the team and I have been setting up the business side. I have had the opportunity to work with major animation studios in Nigeria, and with that experience, I believe I definitely bring a fresh and experienced perspective to all animated projects we are about to take on. Let's get to work!
